ABOUT THE PROJECT

Generation Gender is a five-year program that aims at positively influencing public opinion, laws and policies towards gender justice, as well as strengthening civil society to advocate for gender justice all the while combatting GBV and inequality. More specifically, the program at hand relies on an innovative and inclusive gender-transformative strategy that equips youth leaders and civil society organizations (CSOs) to address the root causes of gender inequality and foster sustainable change. Its goal is to raise public support, advocate for improved policies and laws, and strengthen civil society.

OVERALL GOAL OF THIS ASSIGNMENT

The consultant will be required to develop and deliver a training of trainers to a selected group of young men and women from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. This workshop will enable participants to acquire the fundamental notions of planning and logistics. By undergoing this capacity building activity, participants will then be equipped to support and guide other young change-makers in the process of planning and implementing different grassroots community-based initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and develop a training curriculum in Arabic on planning and logistics in collaboration with ABAAD;

• Ensure the learning materials are accessible and rooted in a participatory active learning approach that incorporates discussions, case studies, demonstration sessions and group activities;

• Carry out 3-4 full day training sessions that will result in the following learning outcomes:
  • Participants are equipped to support their peers in developing a work plan that clearly outlines the milestones required to plan and implement the proposed initiatives;
  • Participants are equipped to carry out a feasibility study to assess how best to implement the initiative in question;
  • Participants are familiar with risk assessment tools such as community surveying and are equipped with a cultural sensitivity lens;
  • Participants are equipped to carry out community needs assessments to identify emerging gaps;
  • Participants are able to carry out stakeholder mapping that identifies key community entry points and relevant parties to engage;
  • Participants are able to develop a coordination plan that ensures solid and effective information flow with the field;
  • Participants are familiar with tracking tools such as attendance sheets, goods receipt notes, inventory books;
  • Participants are equipped to oversee, monitor and report on the sound implementation of the initiatives in question.

• Submit a final report detailing achievements, challenges, lessons learnt and main takeaways along with any notable success stories;

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Applicant is required to have a BA or MA in business administration, management, or other related fields;
• Applicant is required to have experience in delivering trainings on ideation and brainstorming;
• Applicant must have experience working in the humanitarian field –particularly engaging with local communities (experience working with youth is desirable);
• Applicant must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the local context in Lebanon;
• Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in Arabic;
• Applicant must have experience working in culturally sensitive contexts.
