Job Purpose

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and implementing Alert’s project activities and events in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and support with any events in the Bekaa and/or in the North. She/he will coordinate project activities and undertake all logistical preparations required for the proper implementation of activities. The post holder will perform data collection activities as part of the monitoring of one of our projects in Beirut/Mount Lebanon, support in research and focus groups conducted in the selected areas. The role of the post holder is to maintain and consolidate Alert’s relations with partners and local stakeholders, authorities, and influential people. She/he will work closely with the Senior Project Officer and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team who will provide content-based support and supervision. She/he will also collaborate with the field coordinators who work in the Bekaa and in the North for reporting purposes on the same project.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Project Coordination
  • Responsible for monitoring the implementation of activities by Alerts’ standards and collect monitoring data using the developed M&E tools;
  • Work closely with project partners and local actors in the selected areas in order to ensure proper coordination for outreach activities;
  • Support in research and focus group efforts and collection of quantitative/ qualitative data;
  • Supporting coordination on projects in the areas targeted as indicated with the Senior Project Officer and the DMEL Manager;
  • Maintain positive relationships and regularly update relevant authorities and local actors about the project’s progress;
  • Work closely with project partners and local actors in the selected areas in order to ensure proper implementation and compliance with the Safeguarding policy of Alert;
  • Stay abreast with socio-political developments in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and Lebanon generally;
  • Ensure all related logistics and coordination work are in place for women groups workshops within Chouf, Beirut and Marjeyoun Locations (this includes renting a training room, coordinating with participants and ensuring attendance sheets are filled and transportation being provided;
  • Document Alert’s activities for communication purposes;
  • Take the lead on all required logistical preparations for the different activities.

 

  1. Project design, monitoring and evaluation
  • Collect and capture relevant information discussed during the awareness raising sessions and other community and outreach activities;
  • Identify risks, challenges and extract lessons learned based on the close interaction with people from the targeted communities;
  • Support on feeding in the monitoring and evaluation templates and reports;
  • Represent Alert in relevant coordination meetings and advocacy events;
  • Report to the Senior Project Officer and work closely with the Design Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (DMEL) Manager based in Beirut.

 

  1. Contributing to Alert’s organisational processes and strategies
  • Represent Alert’s values and ideas;
  • Contribute to Alert’s internal context updates and planning of new projects;
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to the data obtained throughout implemented activities such as names, identities, and other information Alert collects to complete reports and which only belong to password-protected databases;
  • Any other task relevant to the position.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The ideal candidate:

Has a BA or equivalent in social and political sciences, human rights, or other relevant disciplines.

Has minimum 3 years of relevant experience working with a development organisation, including significant experience working at field level.

Has good knowledge of Lebanese politics and understanding of the political and social context of Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

Is fluent in Arabic and English, excellent communication skills in Arabic are a must.

Is able to influence and motivate others by making their case.

Demonstrates the ability to take initiatives.

Understands or has the ability to understand quickly Alert’s approach to peacebuilding.

Gets on well with people of diverse backgrounds and in diverse roles.

Is computer literate and numerate.

Has excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills.

Has skills and experience in projects implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Has proven knowledge and understanding of programme cycle management, information management and reporting.

Has strong analytical skills and is interested in knowing more about M&E.

Has a clear commitment to the mission and vision of International Alert.

 

 

SUMMARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Annual Salary: Competitive annual salary based on our salary scale for Lebanese nationals

Benefits: Private insurance and NSSF

Leave entitlement: 25 days per year plus Lebanese statutory holidays

Notice period: One month on either side

Working hours: Full time staff are expected to work a standard 35 hours/week, with some flexibility around start and finish times to be agreed with the line manager. All staff are required to work core hours 10am – 4pm.
