International Alert is a 29-year old independent peacebuilding organisation. We work with people who are directly affected by violent conflict to improve their prospects of peace, and we seek to influence the policies and ways of working of governments, international organisations like the UN and multinational companies, to reduce conflict risk and increase the prospects of peace.
We work in Africa, several parts of Asia, the South Caucasus, the Middle East and Latin America and have recently started work in the UK. Our policy work focuses on several key themes that influence prospects for peace

Middle East Director

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our dynamic Middle East programme. To manage and oversee Alert’s peacebuilding portfolio in Lebanon specifically and with oversight to develop our programmes across the region. You will manage our team in Lebanon, lead on the implementation of our strategy across the Middle East, oversee and guide fundraising efforts and collaborations, and work towards ensuring impactful, well-managed peacebuilding programmes.

The post holder will work primarily on a project supporting social stability activities in public schools. As part of a consortium with three other organisations, International Alert’s role is to conduct context analysis in the target communities, advise partners on how to improve the project’s impact on social cohesion, support the implementation of social cohesion activities and monitor the results related to social cohesion in and around schools. The post holder will be the lead in the relationship International Alert has with the Partners’ field teams in and around the 4 schools in Beirut
