Background

Concern Worldwide in Lebanon is implementing a protection program in the North of Lebanon working with Men, Women, and Children refugees and host community members. The program aims to mitigate the impact of displacement and violence on families, with a focus on Gender & SGBV, Conflict Mitigation, Stress Management, and Child Protection risks. Concern aims to address protection concerns in Akkar and T5 through the provision of PSS, FPSS, positive parenting, emotional support groups, and Case Management (CM) mechanisms.

Purpose of the service

Psychodrama is a form of therapy that allows those in treatment to explore issues through action methods (dramatic actions). This approach incorporates role-playing and group dynamics to help people gain a greater perspective on emotional concerns, conflicts, or other areas of difficulty in a safe, trusted environment.

Frontline staff in this project, particularly PSS field staff and Case Workers, are frequently required to engage with and assist cases of individuals and/or families who are dealing with difficult events and circumstances. Such cases may include but are not limited to, instances of abuse, gender-based violence, child marriage, child labor, and extreme poverty. Therefore, such staff requires support and training to help people address various social, health and educational issues they are experiencing. Individuals who participate should be able to explore various life problems and improve their quality of life through the use of artistic expression including art, theatre and drama.

Concern will implement ‘Women’s Group for Life Skills’ programs for women and adolescent girls which aims to build the knowledge and skills and to promote empowerment and resilience for survivors of GBV. This will be done by establishing 3 Women’s Group for Life Skills’ in Akkar in order to give them a space where they can meet to discuss common topics related to GBV and provide them with therapy through psychodrama sessions.
