Background:

EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI) is a policy network that provides expertise in the field of gender equality and women’s rights as inseparable from democracy building and citizenship, and advocates for political solutions to all conflicts, and for the right of peoples to self-determination. EFI seeks to improve and promote women’s rights as universal human rights, the value of gender equality and the use of non-violent means to solve conflicts. Our criterion and position align with the international resolutions and conventions and regional instruments promoting the universality of women’s rights and strengthening women's impact and voices in conflict resolution.

EFI is implementing in partnership with Syrian feminist organisations and human rights organisations the program “Supporting political transition in Syria through gender-sensitive social reconstruction”, funded by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation agency (SIDA). In the frame of the program, a platform will be established providing relevant feminist resources, studies, research, and information on feminist initiatives in Syria, for Syria and in the region.

EFI-IFE is cooperating with Musawa in this project. Musawa is an organization whose primary mission is to promote a democratic and human rights culture, that is especially concerned with women's rights and gender equality, and to contribute to eliminating all forms of discrimination and violence against women, and to empowering women and their effective participation in political, economic, social and cultural fields.

Objectives of the consultancy

The creation of an online platform that provides access to relevant data on Women’s Rights, Gender Equality, and women’s participation. Gathering relevant feminist resources, studies, research, and information on feminist initiatives in Syria, for Syria and in the region. The platform will also be used to feature the courses and seminars provided at the feminist school. The platform will include materials in both Arabic and English.

Context of the assignment: creating a Feminist Platform Deliverables:

Platform:

• Creating an innovative, creative and user-friendly platform as per the given proposal in English and Arabic from scratch to execution
• Create and define the identity for platform (logo and colours..)
• Present design ideas that are best suited for the needs of the platform
• Conduct a mapping of Syrian feminist organizations and Women’ Right’s organizations that are located in: Turkey, Lebanon, parts of Syrian and Europe
• Implementation plan of the platform with proposed benchmark dates of completion
• Installation and quality assurance (QA) testing of a complete system/platform
• Technical and cost proposal with the currency in USD (dollars)
• With details of technology stack and procurement requirements (Hardware/Software/Services) and Security
• Training plan, methodology and requirements
• Search engine optimization (on-page & off-page tactics)
• Maintenance period of 1 year: (to define what services will be included in maintenance)

Social media accounts for the platform:

Create and boost social media platforms that will the launching campaigns for the platform

The platforms should have the same identity and brandling as the website and should be fully operational and ready to be used as communication tools

Time frame

The assignment is for 40 to 60 full-time working days from the date the contract is signed. The assignment is expected to be implemented between 30^th of August 2021 – 30^th of October 2021.

 Required skills and experience

Interested consultant(s) or lead developer for digital firms should hold:

• A Master’s degree in IT, Information management, or another related discipline. 
• At least 5 years of experience in web development, developing IT solutions and providing IT support
• Proven professional experience in developing and managing websites and databases within the non-profit sector
• Proven professional experience in web technologies, including their development and deployment, and development of web-based information systems
