"Life Skills" curriculum development consultant

A consortium of six organizations, including Médecins du Monde (MdM), Skoun, Abaad, Amel, Embrace and Humanity and Inclusion (HI), supported by the Agence Francaise de Development (AFD), aims to improve the opportunities for individuals living in Lebanon to enjoy the best possible mental health and wellbeing. The consortium aims to reach its objective through the development of a community-based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and Substance Use (SU) system offering appropriate, quality and inclusive services to all people living in Lebanon, particularly the most vulnerable groups and people at risk. The specific activities of the project target the different levels of the social ecological model with activities designed and aimed at the individual, interpersonal, organizational, community and public policy level. One of the three outcomes of the project is to strengthen the knowledge and capacities of relevant stakeholders, including schools, on MHPSS and SU challenges, good practices and rights of concerned people.

In line with this project, the Life Skills Curriculum Development Consultant is expected to generate and develop 28 online/digital life skills lessons based on an existing life skills prevention program. This program will be later implemented in schools and delivered through their online platforms, targeting children in elementary and middle school.

Scope of Work

The candidate is expected to:

  • Read Life Skills Program guidelines and curricula in use
  • Coordinate with concerned staff and discuss possible approaches of program developments
  • Create an online/digital version of a life skills curricula that is in use by Skoun
  • Develop 28 online/digital lessons based on the Life Skills curricula in use
  • Provide an outline of the online curriculum (contents, delivery, and time frame before the completion of the full content)
  • Maintain lesson flow and structure in generated script, as per guidelines of the program developers
  • Prepare online lessons to be differentiated into substance use knowledge for youth and general life skills for children

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Public health or a related field.
  • About 3 years of related experience in developing similar programs.
  • Experience in digital education. 
  • Familiarity with Life Skills education
  • Experience working with NGOs
  • Communication skills
  • Writing skills
  • Time Management
  • Knowledge in the field of substance use  
  • Proficiency in Arabic Language
