Responsibilities:
1. Provide technical guidance, on the job training, coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on child protection minimum standards
2. Provide technical guidance, on the job coaching and mentoring to the PSS team on the principles of psychosocial support and learning and development principles for children and adults.
3. Ensure that all spaces where activities are implemented meet interagency standards for safe spaces whether mobile or static
4. Observe community based PSS activities at least two days a week and provide technical guidance on community-based protection, planning community-led initiatives and identification and referral.
5. Ensuring that community-based groups meet a minimum amount of referrals to case management and focused PSS/community-based PSS on a monthly basis
6. Support each member of the PSS team to develop a weekly, monthly and yearly work plan. Update it regularly and follow-up on its implementation
7. Hold regular (bi-monthly at a minimum) individual feedback sessions with member of the PSS team to provide guidance and suggestions for improvement on the performance of each member
8. Ensure staff are sufficiently trained and supported to collect quality and useful information to be used for reporting or communication purposes
9. Ensure that consent is taken from caregivers for the participation of their children in HELP activities. Including signing the permission slip for participation
10. In coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) officer, ensure the quality implementation of the grants’ MEL plan. Share the results and lessons learned in a timely fashion with the relevant parties
11. Document gaps, bottlenecks and challenges in implementation and develop action plans to address these
12. Liaise with local partners and community leaders/focal points to identify vulnerable individuals in areas of intervention
13. Write field visit daily and weekly reports on major findings, needs and problems faced;
14. Ensure that at least oral consent is given at large events where communication material is collected (images, quotes etc.)
15. Perform any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the line manager.
Experience and technical competencies:
At least 3 years of experience in international or local organizations and humanitarian settings, specifically in Child Protection and GBV sectors
Experience managing teams
Experience providing on the job coaching and mentoring and building capacity of staff
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology Child Development or other related field
Excellent knowledge of Child Protection and GBV minimum standards and basic principles
Excellent knowledge of psychosocial support basic principles and PSS key messages to vulnerable children and caregivers
Excellent knowledge of child and adult development and learning
Excellent knowledge of basic facilitation skills
Excellent knowledge of safe identification and referral principles
Good knowledge of GBV and Child Protection case management
Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of client at all times
Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
Comfortable in a multicultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well
Flexible working hours’ availability
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology Child Development or other related field
