Lebanon Reforestation Initiative - Calls

The purpose of this RFP is to contract with Food Safety and Processing expert in the North region that would  support LRI in providing trainings for 2 groups of 25 women each, a total of 50 participants in Akkar an  Dunnieh. 

The Lebanon Reforestation Initiative is a Lebanese NGO registered at the Ministry of Interior and
Municipalities under no. 1186.
LRI is seeking a Forest Management Expert who will coordinate with the Forest Management team at LRI and a Forest Economic Expert to insure the development of a sustainable forest management plan while adopting an economic feasible forest finance plan.

The purpose of this RFP is to contract with a Forest Management consultant to set forest management unit and suggested activities to be implemented in a specific timeline based on the identified objectives of the following sites’ assessment: Mrah El Srej (Minnieh‐Dunnieh) Fnaideq, Mechmech, Akkar El Atika and Qobaiyet (Akkar).
The forest management units should be set based on site visits and divided based on their use. An extensive flora and fauna inventory is not required. The activities of the implementation plan will be applied during the second phase of the project.

The purpose of this RFP is to contract with a Trail Management consultant to set a plan to open trails in
Qobaiyet and Mechmech (Akkar).
The consultant will conduct site visits to determine the adequate track for the implementation of the trails. The proposed trail will be marked with GPS points to facilitate monitoring. Later, the consultant will propose a plan for the needed interventions and conduct visits during the implementation of the activities to assess the evolution of the trail.

The purpose of this RFP is to contract with a Landscape Designer to settle a design for the implementation of Public Gardens in Fnaideq and Qobaiyat (Akkar). The implementation plan should be set based on site visits to determine the most adequate locations to add the items purchased for each location. Based on the site visits, the consultant will prepare a design for each public garden to set up the place of the items needed to be installed (previously mentioned in the table for every village), and a plan for the plantation of seedlings, and will be applied in phase two of the project.

In a context where increased unplanned urban sprawl and land use conversions into arable lands at the expense of natural landscapes, major deforestation and land degradation impacts occur across the country. To overcome this challenge, piloting AF practices on private lands in Lebanon, disseminating the science among communities and farmers, and raising the awareness needed on AF practices, LRI is seeking to collaborate with a Grazing Management Specialist to develop grazing plans of 2 pilot sites:
‐ Sheep grazing management plan for Bakka site;
‐ Poultry grazing management plan for Mdoukha

One of LRI’s currently implemented project is the “Livelihoods in Forestry” project funded by USAID. The
project aims at improving sustainable forestry activities through the establishment of models for economic
forestry and forest‐related rural tourism. In the framework of the Firewise approach, LRI is planning to disclose a fire alert system by developing a hybrid application that can operate on smart phone and provide notifications about risk forecast by location.

LRI is seeking a qualified firm approved by the Ministry of Environment to conduct an Environmental ImpactAssessment for the concepts developed for the restoration of the abandoned quarries in Maqne and Machghara prior to the implementation of restoration work.
