The Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFE) is an officially registered non-governmental organization based in Beirut, Lebanon. AFE focuses its efforts exclusively on Arab states across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). AFE supports grassroots activist groups and organizations (Regional Partners) that are working on a wide range of initiatives including human rights , gender and sexual and sexual health.

The MENA region remains one of the regions in the world with constant discrimination against Key population especially LGBTQI+ in particular trans* minorities with many people facing problems after coming out or even are afraid to come out because of the social, financial and even security challenges in their countries. M-Coalition has set out to create a guide for these populations targeting age groups from 19 years old to mid-twenties where most individuals come-out during this period without the proper knowledge or planning, which makes them even vulnerable to different kinds of injustice.

ChemSex, the recreational use of drugs for sexual purposes, has been identified as an emerging trend that is lately gaining attention in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Although first observed among MSM (Men who have Sex with Men), there are signs of ChemSex engagement among other populations. However, this practice remains most popular among gay men, transwomen,and trans-MSM. In the MENA region, there is little information regarding ChemSex and even scarcer educational materials on awareness and service provision

The Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality is a regional organization dedicated to encourage and support sexual health, sexuality, gender and bodily rights movements in the Middle East and North Africa through capacity building, knowledge production, protection and advocacy. Established in 2009, AFE has been a driver of LGBTIQ+ rights in the MENA region supporting national organizations and local, regional and global advocacy to improve the quality of life of marginalized communities in the MENA region.

The Arab Foundation for Freedoms & Equality is looking for a Finance Manager to oversee the finance team’s daily operation to ensure proper financial management and fiscal standing of the foundation. The Finance Manager will define the process and implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support substantial growth of AFE, which includes overseeing the financial infrastructure including preparing, and reviewing budgets and tracking operational metrics (KPIs.) The Finance Manager will set a strategy and vision ensuring we allocate capital appropriately for AFE.

In light of increased attention that ChemSex is becoming a more popular and frequent practice in this region, MCoalition under the Robert Carr fund (RCF) is working on conducting a study to produce a report on the situation of chemsexers in 3 countries in the MENA.

MCoalition under the SHAG Consortium fund is working on conducting research to act as a baseline report on STIs affecting the lives of KPs in 3 countries in MENA. The baseline will explore various variables including behavior, diagnosis, shame/ fear, stigma and discrimination, PrEP use, seropositivity, knowledge and access to information, treatment, needs, access to services, and experiences.
