Background
Borderless NGO is committed to improving the mental health and well-being of vulnerable populations through tailored psychosocial support (PSS) activities and awareness sessions. The organization also ensures the proper identification and referral of cases requiring specialized support, adhering to protection and safeguarding principles.
Role Overview
The Community Social Worker will be responsible for implementing psychosocial support (PSS) activities and awareness sessions for participants and their caregivers. Additionally, the role includes identifying and referring cases of harm or social issues to appropriate services while maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding protocols.
Key Responsibilities
1. Psychosocial Support (PSS) and Protection Activities
- Plan and implement structured PSS activities tailored to the needs of participants.
- Deliver life skills sessions that enhance participants' coping mechanisms, communication, and decision-making abilities.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Use creative, child-friendly, and culturally appropriate tools and techniques to engage beneficiaries.
- Monitor the progress and emotional well-being of participants during sessions.
- Develop and implement protection-related activities in line with international standards, focusing on safety, resilience, and empowerment.
- Plan and implement structured PSS activities tailored to the needs of participants.

- Use creative, child-friendly, and culturally appropriate tools and techniques to engage beneficiaries.
- Monitor the progress and emotional well-being of participants during sessions.
2. Awareness Sessions
- Develop and deliver awareness sessions for participants and their caregivers on topics such as mental health, stress management, child protection, and coping strategies.
- Tailor sessions to meet the needs of diverse age groups and cultural contexts.
- Collect and analyze feedback to improve the quality and relevance of awareness sessions.
3. Case Identification and Referral
- Identify cases of harm, social vulnerability, or other needs during activities or through community engagement.
- Conduct initial assessments and provide psychological first aid when necessary.
- Refer cases to appropriate service providers, including case management teams, health services, or protection actors, following organizational protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of cases referred and follow up to ensure appropriate action has been taken.
4. Coordination and Collaboration
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator, caseworkers, and other team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including schools, community leaders, and service providers.
- Participate actively in national working groups, protection sector meetings, and inter-agency coordination forums to represent Borderless NGO.
- Share insights, challenges, and best practices during these meetings to contribute to the broader protection sector objectives.
- Ensure alignment of activities with national strategies and sectoral standards.
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator, caseworkers, and other team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including schools, community leaders, and service providers.
- Participate in inter-agency coordination meetings when required.
5. Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of all activities, including attendance, session content, and case referrals.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly activity reports to the Project Coordinator.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges encountered during program implementation.
6. Capacity Building
- Attend relevant training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in PSS and case management.
- Provide training or mentoring to other team members or volunteers when needed.
7. Safeguarding and Protection
- Adhere to Borderless NGO’s safeguarding policies to ensure the protection of all beneficiaries.
- Report any protection concerns or incidents immediately to the designated safeguarding focal point.
- Promote a culture of safety and respect within all activities.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in community-based PSS activities or social work.
- Knowledge of case identification, referral pathways, and child protection principles.
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse groups.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations.
- Familiarity with Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) guidelines.
- Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA).
Deliverables
- Comprehensive activity plans and reports for PSS and awareness sessions.
- Accurate records of referred cases and follow-up actions taken.
- Weekly and monthly reports detailing activities, challenges, and outcomes.
Working Conditions
- The position requires frequent travel within the community and occasional travel to project sites.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if required by the project schedule.
- Commitment to attend mandatory training and team meetings.
