Project Background: 

The project “Promoting the Right to Education for All- Investing in a Community of Educated, Autonomous Citizens in South Lebanon” aims at broadening the prospects for vulnerable populations in three communities in South Lebanon through improved access to education (Improving the learning performances, enhancing the learning environment, engaging the local community in the promotion of education). 

The project will benefit 800 children, youth, and caregivers from the most vulnerable populations in South Lebanon. Of these 800, 600 will be children (between the ages of 6 and 14), 100 youth (between 15 and 24 years old), and 100 adults (25 years and older), mainly caregivers of the children participating in the activities. 

The 600 children, 400 children attend school and 200 do not attend school (They are taught Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN) to give them the basic tools to continue their education). 

The youth will participate in project activities, especially Youth Basic Literacy Numeracy (YBLN), transferable skills training, psychosocial support, and community committees and initiatives as needed. These are usually young people who have difficulties finding work or educational opportunities. The adults are targeted through project activities, especially Adult Basic Literacy Numeracy (ABLN), transferable skills training, psychosocial support, and community committees and initiatives as needed. The target group is illiterate adults who have not gone to school or have dropped out of primary education. They will mostly be from the refugee community and usually the caregivers of the students enrolled in the project activities. 

Primary Purpose: 

The trainer is responsible for providing transferable skills sessions for youth and adults, based on the Amel's Transferable Skills Curriculum.

Task #1: Providing high-quality empowerment activities to youth, and parents/caregivers:

- Implement the transferrable skills curriculum for youth, and adults (age group; 15 to 24 and 25 and above). Each class will benefit from 80 hours over two cycles (average of 3 months/cycle);

- Plans, prepares, and delivers comprehensive preparation and instructional materials to address the different learning abilities;

- In coordination with the transferable skills advisor, Develops and prepares a variety of learning materials and resources (power points and other activities) ; 

- Caters to various learning styles, including visual, auditory (or aural), kinesthetic (or hands-on), and reading and writing learners; 

- Implements and adapts various Adult teaching methods and differentiated instructions to meet adults’ learning abilities and interests using active learning strategies;

- Participates actively in the curriculum revision process by providing feedback or participating in focus group discussions or any other request by the Transferable Skills Advisor, and /or Learning Development Coordinator (LDC);

- Coordinates with the Social Worker for the life skills sessions.

Task #2: Protection: 

- Follows and ensures the implementation of Amel’s Code of Conduct and Safeguarding policies and procedures;

- Maintains positive discipline practices ensuring that youth and parents feel comfortable, safe, and respected;

- Establishes classroom rules and procedures to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment; 

- Supports the social worker/ psychologist in engaging the youth, the parents, and caregivers in the activities (communication skills);

- Designs and organizes occasional activities (such as community events) in coordination with other team members according to the community needs ;

- Implements protective measures for health protection continuously; 

- Supports the organization of any specific activities to respond to urgent needs.

Task #3: Monitoring & evaluation: 

- Design relevant tools to assess the youth and, the parents’/ caregivers’ progress (pre/post-test, personal observation, etc.);

- Monitors the attendance of youth and adults on a daily basis (each session);

- Reports to the field officer & social worker the results on time.

Task #4: Coordination: 

- Share feedback on the implementation of the curriculum with the Field Officer, the Transferable skills Advisor, and the Learning Development Coordinator;

- Coordinates on a daily basis with the team members to adapt the collective response to the youth and adults’ needs (coherent response with social worker, psychologist, etc.);

- Share pictures of the activities on the common WhatsApp group and upload them on the drive based on Amel’s communication guidelines; 

- Takes initiative to collaborate with the transferable skills advisor  to find collective solutions to challenges due to context/situation changes and adapt the project’s activities according to the project’s goal (coordination meetings);

- Ensures the smooth referrals with the social worker/psychologist for individual cases (internal referral pathways);

Task #5: Professional Development:

- Participates in internal and external professional development activities (20 training hours yearly).

-  Participates, actively in the Training of Trainers on the curriculum designed for the Transferable skills package;

Reports to: Field Officer, Field Coordinator, or Project Coordinator

Working Hours:

Part-time: 80 hours total per class, divided into 2 cycles (each cycle lasting an average of 3 months, depending on the availability of youth and adults).

Each class will have a minimum of 3 hours per week.

Skills, Qualifications and Requirements: 

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

- TOT (Training of Trainers) certification is a plus

- 1-2 years of training experience

Monthly Incentive:

$10 per hour (each class needs 3 hours per week)
