About Adyan
Adyan, Foundation for diversity, solidarity and human dignity, works locally, regionally and internationally for pluralism, inclusive citizenship, community resilience, and spiritual solidarity, through homegrown solutions in education, media, policymaking, and intercultural and interreligious relations. Adyan is registered in Lebanon as a non-profit and nongovernmental organisation (NGO), under registration number 1103 by a ministerial decree dated 18 September 2008.
Background
The QUDWA project aims to mobilize Religious Leaders (RLs) to participate actively in the UNICEF full fledge religious leaders’ strategy. This program is meticulously designed to strengthen the role of religious leaders and educators within their communities on protecting and promoting children’s rights while playing a more proactive rôle in ensuring protective environment for children & women. Recognizing the profound respect and trust these figures command, the initiative is strategically structured to empower, engage, and mobilize community-wide action to prevent harmful practices against children and women through a series of targeted activities intended to capacitate Religous leaders to play such a role .
Consultancy Overview
Adyan Foundation requests applications from Childs Rights Expert to:
- Collaborate with religious experts from different faiths to develop educational content on children's rights for Islamic and Christian religious educators. This initiative aims to integrate religious perspectives with children's rights, involving experts to align sacred texts with a rights-based approach.
- Co-develop together with the religious experts a comprehensive guide for preachers on child rights, integrating insights from Christian and Muslim perspectives.
- Advise Adyan and UNICEF on the steps needed to ensure that the project process is based on the best interest of children
- Facilitate workshops and consultation sessions with religious leaders if needed.
- Drafting summary reports from any consultation sessions held
Copyright & Confidentiality
The outcomes of this consultancy are to be used by Adyan and UNICEF. Adyan will provide input into the content required, and will review materials before finalization, to ensure they are tailored to the foundation’s mission and project requirements.
The expert will be required to sign Adyan’s Code of Conduct, which includes the clause that any organizational materials shared by Adyan for the purpose of this consultancy cannot be retained and/or used by the expert for future purposes.
Timeline
This consultancy is for the period of August 2024-December 2024 with a total of 6 working days.
Consultant Profile
The expert must:
- At least a master’s degree in social science, child rights, law, political science or any other relevant field;
- Strong experience and knowledge in child rights issues, the child rights-based approach to programming, child rights governance system, and child policies and child protection;
- Extensive expertise in high-level meetings and dialogues;
- Excellent analytical, documentation and writing skills;
- Have a proven experience in facilitating dialogues, training and workshops with religious leaders.
- Have a proven track record in developing content on child rights
- Be sensitive to and respectful of religious, social and cultural differences and comfortable with working and communicating across differences
- Be able to fluently understand written and spoken Arabic and English
- Be independent from Adyan and UNICEF
- Have access to their own computer and access to fast, stable internet connection and a webcam. To note: no hardware/software or IT support will be provided by Adyan. A work station at Adyan’s office in Lebanon will not be provided.
