The PSU Medical Doctor is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care including medical consultations and medical checkups through the PHC satellite Unit (PSU) in Marjeyoun. The Doctor will provide primary and urgent care services and address the specific healthcare needs of vulnerable communities with limited access to healthcare services.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Provide comprehensive medical care through physical examinations, diagnosing medical conditions, assessing patients' health status, and developing treatment plans.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, minor injuries, and other medical conditions during the PSU visit.
- Prescribe and provide necessary medications available in the PSU, following MOPH treatment guidelines after a full assessment and examination
- Make the necessary referral to the cases that may need additional services not available in the PSU.
- Educate patients on the proper use of medications before administration.
- Direct the PSU nurse on awareness sessions required for patients based on individual cases.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records and any other required documentation.
- Ensure proper documentation of services provided
- Treat all patients with respect and equality, regardless of nationality.
- Attend trainings and capacity building sessions as advised by IOCC
- Coordinate with IOCC’s medical specialist and meet with him as needed to discuss critical medical cases and conditions
- Assist with maintaining the PSU’s cleanliness and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Work closely with the PSU staff to ensure smooth operations and address logistical challenges
- Adhere to all clinical and ethical standards, ensuring patient safety, confidentiality and quality of care
- Promote infection control practices, ensuring the PDU adheres to all sanitary protocols
- Participate in health fairs, community education sessions, and outreach programs aimed at improving community health, when necessary
- Submit monthly schedules and reports to the PSU nurse as requested
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Strong clinical skills and familiarity with evidence-based practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic is necessary
Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Experience required:
More than two years in primary care or a related field is preferred
Able to work in all field circumstances including shelters, camps, municipality buildings …
Working Conditions
Will entail substantial traveling and visits to locations where beneficiaries are living (at the community level) and PSU services are provided.
It is preferable that candidate resides in Marjeyoun area.
