In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on child protection, especially in the most deprived areas of Akkar, by providing education support, extra-curricular activities, and psychosocial interventions.

Areas of Responsibility: Focused Psychosocial Support community facilitator

General objective of the job

The FPSS facilitator is responsible for providing focused psychological and emotional support to individuals or groups facing various forms of distress, trauma or crisis. He/ She is required to acquire and master the FPSS curricula to be provided for the children in a participatory and safe manner.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be aware of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, gender- and conflict-sensitive.
  • Support the outreach team in mapping and assessing children to attend FPSS activities.
  • Register, refer and enroll children in psychosocial support activities.
  • Work directly with children in a community center, carrying out psychosocial activities.
  • Plan, organize and run activities with children while facilitating and encouraging the active participation of all children in a minimum of 1 session per week for each group of children.
  • Ensure activities run in a timely manner to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
  • Ensure that children are all involved in the activity and that there is possibility for boys and girls to work both together and in gender-based group.
  • Deal with difficult behaviours (conflict, aggressiveness, introversion) and understand the reason behind the behaviour to positively communicate with the situation.
  • Ensure children under her/his responsibility are not exposed to any form of Harm or stress during the activities
  • Liaise with the CP Officer on regular basis regarding the implementation of Focused PSS activities
  • Be responsible for the proper use and basic maintenance of the Focused PSS material and the facility.
  • Handle logistics responsibilities as necessary.
  • Submit requests needed of items to be purchased, repaired or replaced to the CP officer.
  • Work in compliance with and respect of the principles of Child Protection and confidentiality, working with refugee and host communities with sensitivity.
  • Identify key protection threats affecting the children and raise them to the CP officer.
  • Identify safety issues and follow-up with the CP officer on the safety and security of the chosen locations.
  • Inform the CP officer about any health issues that could arise among children.
  • Identify children requiring case management and ensure safe referral to case management agencies or service providers; and support with preliminary evaluation when needed.
  • Collect data on the activities organized and ensure that all the relevant forms are duly filled, as requested.
  • Ensure all project means of verifications (MOV) including registration sheets, attendance sheets, SDQs, evaluation documents… are in place.
  • Fill specific forms for referrals and weekly reporting, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the project team in the development of different project reports.
  • Support in AND’s activities when needed;

Personal Competencies:

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to create and work as a team.
  • Creative and able to come up, embrace and coordinate innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
  • Knowledge of English is preferred.
  • Good knowledge word and excel.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in a social development related field, (kindergarten, psychology, sociology, social sciences/humanities, specialized education or social animation).
  • One-year work experience in implementing focused psychosocial activities with children
  • Capable of dealing with children who have experienced war distress (education in emergency preferable

Reporting

The Focused psychosocial support community facilitator shall report to the CP officer.
