The Opportunity

The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Officer will be based in Central and South Area Office (CSAO), as a member of the Food Security and livelihood team, the FSL officer will support CSAO partners in the delivery and the monitoring of a food security and livelihoods project with the aim of creating Sustainable Social Protection and Livelihood Solutions for Severely Vulnerable Households in Lebanon.  This includes entrepreneurship trainings for adults and small business development, financial literacy and debt management, cash projects as a mechanism for assistance, and life skills and vocational trainings for youth. 

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Bachelor degree in Economics, Finance, International Relations, Social Sciences, Development studies or similar field
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Experience in working with CSAO partners staff, in related capacity building activities and monitoring their activities. 
  • Good time management skills.
  • Experience in data collection and validation. 
  • Experience in field work and community mobilization; and in coaching on working with Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese communities in specific. 
  • Computer skills (especially Excel).
  • Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. 
  • Action and solutions oriented. 
  • Flexibility and willingness to change work practices and hours, and capability to work in insecure environment. 
  • Available to travel in country. 
  • Experience of working within SCI is a benefit.
