Background

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting political participation and democratic governance worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, DRI operates across Western Asia and North Africa (WANA), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. It maintains country offices in Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya (operating remotely from Tunisia), the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine, collaborating with various international and local partners across several countries. In addition to its physical presence, DRI is actively engaged in promoting Digital Democracy in many other areas. 

Since 2016 DRI has been raising awareness and advocating for evidence-based policies and public debates that foster democratic and accountable governance, the rule of law, and political participation in Lebanon, in cooperation with civil society organisations and public officials.

Particularly, DRI is working to expand the democratic space for a civil society-led debate on systemic change in Lebanon, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the governing of their own country in an inclusive and participatory manner.

To enhance the well-being and effectiveness of our team, we are seeking to hire an expert in psychosocial support to conduct a full-day comprehensive training session to 11 staff members, in addition to delivering up to five one-on-one sessions for up to  five DRI Lebanon staff.

 

Your duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of DRI’s Country Representative or his assigned Focal Point, the Expert will:

  • Deliver a tailored one-day training workshop for 11 staff members, in the context of the current situation and its impact on the work environment, using an engaging and participatory approach (1 expert day), covering topics such as:
    • Understanding psychosocial support and its importance
    • Identifying signs of stress and burnout
    • Techniques for self-care and stress management
    • Providing peer support and fostering supportive work environment techniques, as well as creating a manual (not more than 5 pages) to be used as an internal guide.
  • Deliver up to five one-on-one psychosocial support sessions for five DRI Lebanon staff members.
  • Provide a short report/note summarising the main conclusions of the sessions (while maintaining their confidentiality) and recommendations for DRI to refine its psychosocial support for its staff in the near future.

 

Your skills and experience:

  • An advanced university degree in psychology or any other relevant field;
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in providing psychosocial support;
  • In-depth knowledge of psychosocial support principles and practices that are relevant to Lebanon and similar country contexts;
  • Experience in conducting training sessions for NGOs or similar organisations will be an asset;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
