Organizational Context and Scope:

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Lebanon and direct supervision of the Head of Programmes (HoP); and, in collaboration with relevant units across the IOM Lebanon Country Office, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for carrying out the analysis and reporting functions within the Data and Research Unit.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. 

2. Carry out preparatory and background research to support survey design, assessment preparation, analysis, and report development.

3. Help maintain project records by ensuring the proper archival and organization of datasets and narrative drafts.

4. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts of the DRU, including assisting in tracking key indicators for all the products and activities.

5. Support in determining relevant information for inclusion and report development for all the DRU’s reports.

6. Assist in drafting and producing analytical products for the Data and Research Unit (DRU), such as Bi-weekly Mobility Snapshots, Bi-monthly Overviews, Migrant Presence Monitoring, and the IDP Intention Survey and ensure alignment with global IOM reporting standards.

7. Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update project reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation. 

8. Respond to information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. 

9. Support in improving the dissemination methods for the DRU information products and the positioning of these products among users.

10. Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nations agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors, and other stakeholders relevant to the project. 

11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

  • High School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:

  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in media, graphic design, editing and publishing or similar at a professional or intern level.
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. 

Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
  • Ability to use graphic design software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and others;
  • Ability to use data visualization software like Tableau and others is an advantage;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an advantage;
  • Proved experience in conducting field research and preparing research reports;
  • Good knowledge of the migration context in Lebanon and the region;
  • A good knowledge of IOM’s mandate and activities is a distinct advantage. 

Languages:

For all applicants, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of French is desirable.

Notes:
