MENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISOR

Accountabilities:

• Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the MMHAM(Mission Mental Health Activity Manager) / Project Medical Referent  and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
• Coordinate activities of counselling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services and actively involved in the regular North MHPSS working group.
• Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psychosocial needs in collaboration with the patient Support supervisor.
• Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
• Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required if needed.
•  Collaborate with Patient Support Supervisor to oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
• When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
• Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the PMR and consult with MMHAM for technical reports.
• Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mission Mental Health Activity Manager.
• Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential

MSF Context Specific Accountabilities:

Establish MH program at PHCCs supported by MSF in Tripoli (nearby area) and support organizing MH related community activities in the PHCs catchment areas. MSF is working with people from several background, origins, religions – high level of intercultural competencies, openness and flexibility are required, as well to collaborate in an inclusive and non-discriminaty environment when working with interpreters. 

• Support PHCCs team to set up MH program and MH patients flow
• Provide direct (on the job) and indirect clinical supervision of MH professionals (psychologists and community health educators). When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols
• Ensure and supervise the quality of clinical documentation produced by MH staff (patient file, data, MH report). Ensure high standards of ethical compliance and confidentiality.
• Develop and implement training programs aimed to MH team capacity building
• Enhance clinical skills and MH techniques of Clinical Psychologist and Community Health Educators employed in MSF contracted Health Facilities
• Monitor and enhance performance of MH staff (clinical and community) by providing coaching, encouragement and constructive feedback
• Identify strengths and weaknesses of MH team members and plan individual customized coaching plans
• Collaborate with key actors providing MH services in Tripoli and establish MH patients’ referral/contra referral pathways
• Build a good collaboration with PHCC’s team
• Take active part in case discussions and meetings within the project.
• Ensure that the team keeps respect to the patient’s rights and dignity, according to MSF protocols and values – Adherence to MSF values is mandatory
• Assist in any other tasks that are assigned by line managers

Requirements:

Education

• Master’s degree in psychology.

• An official certificate of completed clinical training/practicum in a university center consisting of at least 100 hours of training under supervision by a scholar and 300 hours of applied training (an official form is available). For psychologists who graduated in the last 5 years or more and cannot get this certificate a substitute exists. 

• Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists (unless graduated from Lebanese University) 

• MoPH License to practice clinical psychology profession in Lebanon 

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience as clinical psychologist.
• Desirable previous experience as a supervisor
• Desirable previous experience in capacity building and Trainings  
• Desirable previous experience with MSF or other NGO’s

• Fluency in Arabic and English with a strong written and oral communication skills
