POOL OF COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS

- Accountabilities:
- Collect and report (to IEC/HP Supervisor) specific information related to his/her community: perception of the sickness, food security, vaccination status of children, perception of the services, constraints and strengths, vulnerability, level of information, living conditions and risks related.
- Deliver information to his/her community on specific health topics and about MSF, the services it provides.
- Consolidate the link between his/her community and the MSF services; give advice how to better involve his/her community in the activities of awareness and prevention; indicate possible local actors or local NGOs and community project which could be involved in awareness activities at a local level.
- Support the mapping of the territory and population: schools, churches, villages, gathering points; support and facilitate relations with local authorities of his/her community, where requested by the IEC/HP Supervisor; support MSF in the defaulter tracing activities.
- Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints;
- Move from house-to-house as per micro plan.
- Organize group sessions within the community.
- Explains to the public basic general information on cholera:
- Prevention measures (e.g., handwashing, food hygiene, water treatment methods; precautions concerning defecation).
- Symptoms of cholera and action to be taken in the event of “rice water” diarrhea.
- Explains to the public targeted information depending on the context:
- Place and date of vaccination in the event of a mass vaccination campaign and information on the vaccination (who? how? advantages and limits, etc.).
- Listens and answers the public’s questions and concerns. Depending on the context:
- Sensitive subjects (e.g., changing funeral rites).
- Rumors that complicate the measures set up to eradicate the outbreak.
- Other general or specific concerns of the population (e.g., implementation of a new cholera facility in a neighborhood).
- Manages materials for health promotion activities.
- Regularly reports to the Head of CHW on routine activities carried out and the difficulties encountered
- Requirements:
Education
- Essential: Lebanese Baccalaureate Certificate of Secondary Education issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education (شهادة البكالوريا اللبنانية للتعليم الثانوي صادرة من وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي اللبنانية)
Experience
- Desirable: Previous experience in data collection in the community.
- Desirable: Previous experience in performing cholera campaign.
Languages
- Essential: Full professional proficiency using the Arabic Language
- Desirable: Proficiency in English and French at any level
Knowledge
- Essential: Basic knowledge of mathematics and proficiency with measuring equipment.
- Desirable: Completion of and/or attendance in previous CHW training(s).
