Call for Translation services

The Lebanese Environment Forum is seeking a proficient translator to assist in the activities related to the EU funded project for MPA Network implemented by LEF in partnership with the University of Balamand. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate appropriate translation of materials produced within this project.

The position of “translator” for the “Conducting an evidence-based national Non-State Actors Campaign for a Marine Protected Areas Network in Lebanon” Project must have the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Translate written content from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English accurately and efficiently, maintaining the original meaning and context.
• Ensure that translated materials adhere to the organization's style guide and standards.
• Conduct thorough research on specialized terminology to ensure accuracy and consistency in translation.
• Collaborate with the project team to address any queries or concerns related to the translation process.
• Revise and proofread translated materials to ensure quality and coherence.
• Meet deadlines and deliver translated materials within the specified timeframe.
• Communicate effectively with project manager and team members to provide progress updates and address any issues that may arise.

The technical coordinators/consultants will provide the translator with the needed material to complete required tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A degree or certification in translation or a related field.
• Proven experience as a translator, with a strong portfolio of previous translation projects from English to Arabic and vice versa, especially in the environmental related field.
• Fluency in both English and Arabic languages, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• In-depth knowledge of Arabic and English grammar, syntax, and vocabulary, as well as cultural nuances and sensitivities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to produce high-quality translations under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

DURATION

The duration of the contract: from June 2024 till December 2025
