Mission:

Background:

Since 2012, Humanity and Inclusion (HI) has been one on the main rehabilitation actors in Lebanon, providing physical and functional rehabilitation services to the most vulnerable people with functional difficulties. Within its strategy, HI is continuing to improve access to qualitative rehabilitation services, assistive technologies and continuum of care.

Scope of Project:

Under its planned project “Support to acute and post-acute health care for vulnerable persons in Lebanon”, HI will provide home care for post-life/limb saving operative- patients. Through its partners in Beirut and South Lebanon, HI will provide early rehabilitation, assistive devices, consumables, psychosocial support, and financial support to access medical and specialized services.

 

Scope of Work:

The Rehabilitation Officer (RO) will be managed by the Health Project Manager and in close collaboration with the rehabilitation Technical Officer and Regional Technical Unit (RTU) / Global Specialist, the Rehabilitation Officer contributes to the implementation of HI mandate and ten-year strategy (expressed in StratOp) in his/her home country. He/she contributes to the implementation of projects by accompanying partners, providing technical expertise in occupational therapy and ensuring that the quality and impact of the project(s) concerned are optimized.

 He/she will ensure the quality of assistive technology service provision in the project by training partners, staff and supporting logistic team in the technical check and validation of the items. He/She will also promote the user centered approach in the delivery of physical and functional rehabilitation services, mainly occupational therapy to improve the satisfaction of users and the rehabilitation outcomes.

The RO works in close collaboration with the program's technical team to ensure the intersectionality between the different sectors.

Reports to: Project Manager

 

Interacts with:

 

-Internal: Rehabilitation Technical Officer, project team, RTU, MEAL staff, support services staff.

 

-External: The project partners, the authorities in the project area of implementation, other stakeholders including local organizations, INGOs and UN agencies in the area of implementation, relevant Clusters/Working Groups.

 

Missions / Responsibilities

Responsibilities

 

Responsibility 1: Providing guidance and technical support to projects in accordance with the technical frameworks and general standards of his/her sectoral scope

Activities:

  • Provide appropriate technical guidance and support to project partners and other stakeholders in the area of expertise. 
  • Ensure project(s) activities are implemented in accordance with internal quality and technical standards and propose adjustments or improvements as necessary.
  • Adapt project documentation as required, in accordance with global technical standards and norms.
  • Contribute to the regular reporting of technical activities of its scope (collection and analysis of technical data collected) in conjunction with the project team and the MEAL team.

 

Responsibility 2: Providing project-based technical learning

Activities:

  • Collect the elements necessary for capitalization exercises or scientific documentation.
  • Contribute to technical learning under the responsibility of the specialist or project manager, based on best practices.
  • Implement recommendations to improve the technical quality of projects.
  • Ensure the technical quality and relevance of project activities implemented within their area of expertise; conduct self-evaluation of their project and participate in evaluation cycles under the supervision of the PM.
  • Taking ownership of norms and standards anticipates and prepares for nexus adjustments.
  • Contribute to data collection for research activities.
  • Contribute to the terms of reference for evaluations.

 

 Responsibility 3: Contributing to the animation of his/her sector

Activities:

  • Contribute to or lead the technical training required in occupational therapy. 
  • Contribute to the skills upgrading plan for professionals in its sector and may be a third-party assessor.
  • May contribute to the development of a local talent pool within his/her sector (conducts technical interviews of candidates and makes recommendations, identifies training and coaching needs).
  • Contribute to the collection of operational data to ensure adequate monitoring of activities or ad hoc data collection activities, and ensure appropriate measurement of project completion in his/her area of expertise.
  • Ensure that data processing is established and carried out in accordance with the rules and principles set by the IM/MEAL and by the technical councils of the sector of expertise.

 

Responsibility 4: Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities

Activities:

  • Contribute to the support or implementation of emergency preparedness actions of the program(s) and, during an emergency, adapts his/her work modality in order to contribute to an effective HI humanitarian response.

  • Education:

 

Essential: University degree in Occupational therapy with MOPH license to practice.

 

  • Experience:
  • Essential: Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the field in occupational therapy;
  • Essential: Experience in providing professional capacity building and coaching to teams
  • Desirable: knowledge of referral mechanisms
  •  

 

  • Language:
  • Essential: English (high proficiency)
  • Essential: Arabic (mother tongue)

 

  • Other skills;
  • Experience to translate written technical documents from English into Arabic;
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Autonomy in work
  • Excellent reporting capacity skills (written and oral communication)
  • Ability to work with partners

 

Basic salary ranges for the position: Rehabilitation officer (OT) is going to be paid according to the experience and to HI salary Grid.

Basic Salary   Starting 1,700 USD
