PSS Facilitator

Job Summary 

A Psychosocial Support Facilitator is a professional responsible for providing psychological and emotional support to individuals or groups facing various forms of distress, trauma, or crisis. This role is crucial in helping people cope with challenging life situations, such as disasters, conflicts, or personal crises. 

They play a vital role in promoting the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals or communities in distress. They provide counseling, guidance, and support to help people cope with trauma, stress, and other psychosocial challenges. 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities 

Psychosocial support provision: 

•  Conduct psychosocial assessments to identify the needs and concerns of individuals or groups. 
•   Screen for mental health issues, trauma, and psychosocial vulnerabilities.  
• Provide group counselling sessions to address emotional, psychological, and social needs. 
•    Offer emotional support and active listening to individuals experiencing distress. 
•    Develop and implement psychosocial support sessions tailored to the needs of beneficiaries. 
•    Conduct psychosocial support sessions to raise awareness about protection and provide individuals with ways to protect themselves and seek help. 
•  Collaborate with other professionals in emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of beneficiaries. 
• Revise sessions according to each feedback/evaluation, and constantly adapt approaches and exercises with the program manager follow-up. 
• Ensure that all activities are done in an appropriate location in line with minimum standards. 
• Ensure that all beneficiaries are aware of any Feedback and Complaint Mechanism. 
• Organize and attend events to promote protection and well-being. 

Community Engagement: 

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with key community members, local leaders, and other relevant stakeholders. 
• Work with communities to identify psychosocial needs and develop community-based support systems. 
•  Organize and facilitate support groups and community activities to promote well-being. 
• Conduct regular field visits to project sites and engage directly with community members to understand their needs, perspectives, and concerns. 
• Represent the organization when requested or necessary. 

Detection and referral: 

• Detect and report any medium/high-risk cases to case management. 
• Ensure beneficiaries access to all services needed by referring them to the appropriate agencies. 

Reporting: 

• Prepare brief reports on project activities, achievements and challenges for internal reports. 
• Provide accurate data for the beneficiaries and the sessions provided. 
• Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices to contribute to knowledge sharing and organizational learning. 

Qualifications and Experience 

• Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, or any other related field. 
• Proven experience (2 years) working in psychosocial support. 
• Strong knowledge of protection, mental health and well-being. 
• Familiarity with local cultural dynamics, social norms, and political context in the North of Lebanon. 
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and conduct community engagement activities. 
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in challenging and sensitive environments. 
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good English.

Conditions 

• Full-Time working hours: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm. 
• Willingness to travel abroad for meetings and conferences (where applicable).
