Call for Consultancy - Translator
NCLW seeks technical support through a consultant for developing the VAW shelter standards in Lebanon based on the findings of the shelters’ assessment (mentioned earlier) and carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The VAWG shelters’ standards in Lebanon must also take into account the case management SOPs developed by MOSA in partnership with ABAAD, as well as the SOPs developed for the humanitarian sector response both at national and regional levels.
So, the consultant has developed VAW shelter SOPs, to be validated by and finalized in collaboration with national stakeholders in Lebanon, namely the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Accordingly, the objective of this consultancy is to translate the report from Arabic to English after a proofreading.
Scope of Work: (Description of services, activities, or outputs)
The translator is expected to:
- Producing a 100% accurate translation to English from Arabic.
- Ensure professional translation, proofreading, and editing of all text, including figures, boxes, captions, sources, and covers;
- Pay attention to detail at all levels and check for errors (e.g. grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, formatting) to ensure the translated text is accurate, faithful, and consistent rendering of the original text.
- Review and edit texts written in Arabic;
- Assure texts are technically, linguistically and grammatically correct and consistent in terms of completion and terminology usage;
- Assure that texts meet high quality standards, are error free and will not need further editing after completion of translation.
- Ensure incorporate NCLW’s comments after back and forth.
Final Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to deliver the following:
- 2 final reports: one in English and another in Arabic

* The report in Arabic, approximate, in word version, is between 45 and 65 pages.
* One page will be considered/calculated as 250 words.
Key Competencies
- Master's degree in Translation or similar field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience as an official Translator and editor.
- Outstanding writing skills in Arabic, and English languages.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to ensure work is achieved to a high standard and promptly.
- Strong familiarity with gender-related terminology.
