International Trade Specialist (IT)

II. Assignment Objectives
International trade specialists are instrumental to helping organizations compete in the global economy. The IT analyzes foreign trade and the global economy and uses the insights to advise and guide strategic business decisions for a variety of clients. These individuals provide guidance to businesses involved in, or seeking involvement in, international trade by conducting research into foreign markets, import and export laws, and other relevant data points.

III. Duties and Responsibilities
The IT will provide technical leadership and support in four major areas:

• Interpret, develop, and implement trade compliance policies.
• Track shipment and freight.
• Educate clients and staff about topics such as documentation, classification, and restrictions.
• Conduct research and analysis and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

IV. Specific Tasks to be Undertaken

• Prepare transportation documents based on the contract terms and conditions.
• Carry out correspondence (negotiations) with customers’ logistics specialists and managers of transport companies on transport logistics issues: agreement of transportation documents (Invoice, Pacing List, AWB), cargo packing, insurance.
• Track the movement of cargo en-route.
• Arrange payment of suppliers’ invoices, of invoices for transport company services.
• Interact with a customs broker on the customs clearance of cargoes delivered to the company from abroad.
• Search for foreign suppliers of necessary equipment.
• Carry out negotiations (correspondence) on delivery conditions (procurement prices, delivery deadlines, payment conditions).
• Organize internal logistics.
• Educate clients and staff about topics such as documentation, classification, and restrictions.
• Conduct research and analysis and present findings to relevant stakeholders.

VIII. Required Skills and Experience

• University degree (in engineering\economics).
• Additional education in logistics, foreign economic activity, and economics is a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years direct applicable experience mostly of international.
• Knowledge of and experience in planning.
• Excellent interpersonal, consensus building and negotiating skills essential.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic are required.
