About Sanabel Nour

Sanabel Nour is a humanitarian, nonprofit, and apolitical NGO that started its interventions in 1995 in North Lebanon. Its main objective is to protect orphan kids in their homes and help them by securing financial guarantees to remain with their families without the need to seek orphanages.

As a result of the increased and diversified needs, Sanabel Nour is working on developing its community support in different ways and through various sectors such as: providing in-kind and financial support for people in need, providing health services, reducing school dropouts and child labor through establishing educational centers and providing scholarship for eligible students.

In addition, Sanabel Nour is working towards economic empowerment of women and youth through the implementation vocational training (TVET) and supporting small businesses (SMEs). 

 

Introduction and Scope

Under the project « CAP Tripoli – Empowering Sanabel Nour », funded by CDCS (Centre de Crise et de Soutien du Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires Etrangères), Sanabel Nour, with the support of Bioforce, is committed to strengthening its capacities and its credibility towards international actors in Lebanon.

Following an organizational self-assessment and action planning, Sanabel Nour defined a set of activities that will help the association address areas of improvement on the organizational level.

On the funding level, Sanabel Nour is looking for a staff specialized in program development, grants management and fundraising to help in the diversification of their sources of funding.

 

This position is funded by CDCS (Centre de Crise et de Soutien du Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires Etrangères), with the support of Bioforce, under the “CAP Tripoli- Empowering Sanabel Nour” project that will end in June 2023. The renewal of the contract depends on the availability of fund and Sanabel Nour organizational decision.

 

Position

Program Development and Grants Manager

 

Main Purpose

The Program development and Grants Manager is responsible for the proposal development process and grants management system in coordination with Sanabel Nour teams. Under the supervision of Sanabel Nour’s director, s/he will also be supporting fundraising and representation.

 

Accountability

The jobholder's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks: 

 

Responsibility 1: Proposal Development

  • Work closely with Sanabel Nour team to design competitive final proposals responsive to donor guidelines and requirements, and in line with Sanabel Nour’ programme strategy.
  • Lead the proposals development in consistency with the requirements of requests or calls for proposals or concept notes, predicting or preventing bottlenecks in the proposal development process.
  • Ensure that the proposal development process takes into consideration the mainstreaming of CHS, global cross cutting themes such as inclusion and gender, sector strategies and lessons learnt from previous programming.
  • Lead or support assessments for new programming, ensuring linkages with Sanabel Nour program team, in line with Sanabel Nour’s vision and mission.
  • Support the training and capacity building to Sanabel Nour staff on proposal development, program reporting and donor compliance.

 

Responsibility 2: Grants Management

  • Establish grants management systems and ensure that Sanabel Nour teams are aware of programmatic, financial and compliance requirements of donors.
  • Lead the organization of grant kick-off, review and close-out meetings, analysing original plans and log frames against achievements.
  • Disseminate key program requirements such as reporting needs, formats and timelines are known by all relevant staff.
  • Lead or support the preparation and submission of program reports to donors, in coordination with Sanabel Nour teams from Program, MEAL, Support departments.
  • Lead or support the liaison with donors on all major decisions, changes or organizational news.
  • Ensure comprehensive grant files are maintained up to date and are available for use by key staff.
  • Support the training and capacity building to Sanabel Nour staff on grants management.

 

Responsibility 3: Fundraising, communication and representation

  • Support the implementation of the fundraising strategy, monitoring donors’ strategy and new opportunities of funding, in close collaboration with Sanabel Nour director.
  • Support the organization of fundraising events and campaigns
  • Represent Sanabel Nour in public forums (cluster meetings, international conferences, donor events, funding competitions) when needed to increase the organisation’s visibility.

 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, making positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in writing detailed project plans and proposals is required. Experience in writing or research in related fields will also be considered.
  • Experience in programmatic strategy, creating, editing and amending various Theory of Change models and logical frameworks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of migration and the situation of migrant workers in Lebanon.
  • Knowledge and understanding of anti-racist and feminist approaches/theories a significant asset.
  • Comfortable leading on their own work and working alone.
  • Good Microsoft Office & online research skills.
  • Very good organizational and time management skills, proactive, self-motivated.
  • Extremely organized and reliable.

 

Education and Experience:

  • University Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Media/Communications or a related field and at least eight years of professional experience in fundraising-related roles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Arabic (French also an asset), adapting to different registers and contexts as needed.
