CARE International in Lebanon (CiL) is part of a regional response to the Syrian Crisis to meet the immediate and most urgent needs of those who have fled Syria and provide support to local vulnerable host populations. CARE’s programs are also designed to meet longer term needs. Working with partners in WASH, Shelter, Protection, Livelihoods and economic opportunities in the North, South, Beirut, and Mount Lebanon Governorates CARE has a special emphasis on working with women and girls.

CARE International in Lebanon is starting the implementing of a capacity building and livelihood community-based agriculture project that seeks to address critical capacity gaps along targeted value chains at both the individual, communal and institutional levels This position is responsible for the full Implementation of a CARE International project based in that spans over the North, Mt. Lebanon, and the South.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all service providers and consultants related to the program activities and ensure logistical support is provided, as well as ensuring that they meet the deliverables as set in their Scope of Work.
  • Coordinate closely with local authorities and farmers to establish, document and check criteria for beneficiary selection into the project, to ensure that these are perceived to be fair by local stakeholders and to ensure full transparency in the selection process
  • Ensure the safety of program participants
  • Conduct technical assessment to identify the most in-need farmers to implement the project activities.
  • Identify the need of the farmers during the technical assessment to include in the training.
  • Support with the oversight of procurement of all materials for in kind grants for food processors, cooperatives and farmers
  • Support with the coordination of payment procedures, including documentation, approval and actual payment, working closely with the project team and finance department in CARE.
  • Conduct community outreach, supporting the identification of training participants including farmers, business owners, youth, women, etc.
  • Conduct daily field monitoring visits to provide support when needed to ensure quality implementation in all areas (North Lebanon, Mount Lebanon, and South Lebanon).
  • Participate in preparing GMP/GAP/GHP training sessions.
  • Organization of the training sessions (room preparation, transportation, refreshments, etc.)
  • Support the staff in data entering and preparing the processed data.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools for data collection and analysis.
  • Translate documents when necessary.
  • Assist in organizing, preparing and running meetings, workshops and conferences
  • Attend meetings and draft minutes
  • Engage in filing and archiving activities when needed
  • Assist in gathering of monitoring data for project reports
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to CARE and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Any other tasks assigned.

The Project Manager will also have to fulfill any other task as requested by her/his supervisor depending on the programmatic priorities in the Field Office.

 Experience

At least   3-5  years of relevant technical experience, especially at NGOs, academic organizations, standard-setting bodies, public agencies focused on Livelihoods and Food Security projects.

Academic background

Vocational Degree, Bachelor degree, in Agriculture or equivalent

  1. English and/ or Arabic are the working language of CARE International in Lebanon.

Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
