Who we are

MENA Rosa is the first regional network in the MENA Region that supports and empowers women and girls in their diversity, those living with HIV, women and girls at high risk of infection: as well as their families and partners through the development of their leadership, the promotion of effective participation in response, advocacy, networking, awareness-raising, and resource mobilization to ensure their rights, universal and equitable access to care, treatment, support, prevention and better quality of life.

Project Overview

LEARN MENA is the first project to explore and address the linkages between gender based violence and HIV in the MENA region that was led by, with, and for women living with and affected by HIV. The implementation was done through participatory community dialogues and awareness raising workshops designed and led by women in their diversity, women understood the root causes of violence and HIV.

In parallel, national stakeholders’ meetings were held to generate in-depth understanding of the links between gender-based violence and HIV and mobilize their support for advocacy and programmatic responses.

The activity was held in Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and Iran.

What are we looking for?

Under the Global Funds to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (GFATM) grant “HIV: Sustainability of Services for Key Population in MENA region”, MENA Rosa have developed a first video in 2021 to shed light on the interlinkage between GBV & HIV and increase public awareness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAbv0tH2Wqo&t=1s .

In 2022, as a continuous effort to raise awareness of the general public, MENA Rosa would like to develop a second video to be disseminated on social media platforms and during future workshops and gatherings.

Requirement:

- The video needs to be in Arabic, white language, a version with English subtitles and a version with French subtitles.

- Two versions of the video: one short video (1 minute) to be posted on Instagram, one long video to be posted on all social media (length depending on our agreement).

Major points and insights to keep in mind that will help the videographer to deliver the message in the best way possible:

  • MENA Rosa supports women in all their diversity: women living with HIV (WLHIV), sex workers, transgender women, lesbians, single mothers, women who use drugs.
  • Gender based violence is a direct risk factor for HIV transmission.
  • The violence and abuse are closely related to gender inequality, HIV Status and women in all their diversity.

The purpose of this video has to expose the interlinkage between GBV & HIV. The targeted group is the general population, in particular women in all their diversity living in the MENA Region.
