ABOUT THE PROJECTS

International Alert (hereafter ‘Alert’) is implementing projects aimed at supporting women’s networks, building better interaction and relationships amongst youth and aimed at supporting safe spaces to learn and ending violence against children in Lebanon

Safe to Learn

International Alert (IA) in partnership with four local partners is delivering a 15-month project to prevent and address violence against children (VAC) in their learning environments. The objective was to increase the evidence base and capacity of schools and learning centres to reduce violence against children in areas with high concentration of refugees in Lebanon.

Work included prevention and response to VAC in schools and learning centers aiming to shift social norms and behavior change towards VAC. The project focused largely on utilizing and producing evidence and learning along with practical tools educators can use to prevent violence in learning spaces. 

Creating Spaces for Women Peacebuilders Project

Alert is implementing an intergenerational and cross-community dialogue between women community members in Tripoli. This involves supporting a group of women leaders/ cofacilitators in those communities with capacity building, coaching, and accompaniment on dialogue facilitation, addressing the impact of conflict issues and women’s role in local peace, dialogue, and reconciliation processes.

This project also involves supporting established women mediation networks across Lebanon with capacity building trainings and producing communications materials on the role of women in local peace and mediation processes based on field stories collected following the most significant change (MSF) approach.

Creating Spaces for Peace Project

Alert is implementing a community dialogue project between young people across social and conflict divides in Tripoli and Bekaa. This involves supporting young community members with capacity building, coaching, and accompaniment on conflict mitigation, conflict and tension mapping and analysis, and dialogue skills so that they are enabled to contribute to social stability and improved community relations through multistakeholder dialogue and community initiatives. This will include producing communications materials on the role of young people in local peace processes based on field stories collected following the most significant change (MSF) approach.

DUTIES, TASK & TIMEFRAME

We are seeking an experienced Project Support Consultant to work with our Senior Projects Officer in Tripoli to support the effective implementation, reporting and Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) of the projects delivered in Tripoli. We anticipate working on a full time basis (20-22 days per month up to 50 days total) between project between February and April 2022 as follows:

• Support in the coordination and logistics management of the project activities in Tripoli
• Monitor project activities towards achieving project indicators and outputs, including reviewing and filling out activity report forms tools to capture results of the activities.
• Support in drafting reports to donors
• Support project participants in planning and executing community-based initiatives
• Develop quantitative and qualitative tools to collect success stories from beneficiaries
• Support the Senior Projects Officer in assessing any gaps in M&E processes
• Contribute to writing monitoring and evaluation reports

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• A degree in media, journalism, communication strategies or a relevant study/ experience.
• At least 2 years successful experience of implementing and coordinating communication and advocacy processes at project and strategy levels.
• Good knowledge and practical experience of communications and visibility tools and processes.
• Fluent in Arabic and English, and communicates clearly and effectively.
• Able to influence and motivate others by making their case
• Gets on well with others of diverse backgrounds and in diverse roles
• Very well organised
• An understanding of, and commitment to, safeguarding with children, young people and vulnerable adults.
• Knowledge and experience of communications and visibility in the peacebuilding sector.
• Must be available to start Februrary 2022 and commit to the consultancy requirements.
