Call for Expert

Basmeh and Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Basmeh & Zeitooneh is calling for an expert to join the Civic Incubator Project to train and support startup and local CSOs in Syria in producing recommendation papers related to their targeted communities.

The Civic incubator project aims to develop and empower the Syrian civil society role by providing professional training on topics related to advocacy, citizenship, human rights... Etc.

To enable the incubated CBOs, CSOs from using the right civic tools and mechanisms during providing services to their societies. In addition, conduct dialogue sessions with their targeted communities to identify their needs and expectations, and to support them in raising their issues and cases to the international communities.

The expert will support the CBOs, CSOs by guiding the preparation and implementation of the discussion groups through setting the discussion questions and sessions methodology.

The CBOs will be divided into three working groups, each group will hold 12 discussion sessions for two months with their local community. After holding the group discussions, CBOs/CSOs will prepare a set of recommendation documents that reflects the thoughts and needs of the target community on a specific thematic area.

The recommendation documents will be disseminated to international partners and within Basmeh & Zeitooneh network to assist in planning and designing relevant interventions in the target areas.

The expert will be responsible for the technical support that may include, but is not limited to the following tasks:

• Provide technical support to the CBOs.
• Conduct an introductory meeting with the CBOs to divide them into three working groups and assist them in selecting themes of the dialogues.
• Prepare sessions methodology.
• Supervise the facilitators during the sessions.
• Follow-up meetings with each working group after the group sessions (12 meetings).
• Assist and supervise the production of the final version of the recommendation papers.

The expert must know advanced Arabic and have experience in a similar project that targets the Syrian civil society.
