EuroMed Feminist Initiative (EFI) is implementing the program “Supporting political transition in Syria through gender-sensitive social reconstruction”, funded by the Swedish International Development and Cooperation agency (SIDA). This program aims at contributing to inclusive gender-sensitive peace-building and social reconstruction process in Syria by promoting women’s rights, combatting VAW and gender discrimination and ensuring women’s role and meaningful participation at all levels of political, social and economic reconstruction in Syria.
Introduction
During the first year of this phase of the project, one training to social workers on provision of psychosocial support to survivors of SGBV will be organized by EFI. The training will focus on the procedures to conduct psychosocial support to victims/survivors of VAWG, especially SGBV, how to provide support to victims, helping them to cope with distressing experiences and memories, and to raise their self-esteem and self-care. Moreover, the training will include a component on how to engage local communities to support survivors including how to raise awareness of community leaders, and ways to spread the knowledge on a grass-root level. The training will target 15 social workers from different CSOs and CBOs.
Objectives of the consultancy
- To develop the training material on the provision of psychosocial support to victims of SGBV
- To develop the training material on how to engage local communities in supporting SGBV survivors
- To successfully deliver the training to 15 social workers
Scope of work
Upon completion of the consultancy, the consultant is expected to help advance the key objectives of this activity that include:
- Equip 15 social workers with the necessary skills to effectively provide PSS support to SGBV survivors
- Build the capacity of 15 social workers in raising awareness on supporting SGBV survivors and engaging the local communities to that end
Timeline:
- The training will be implemented mid-September 2021 either online or in Beirut.

Qualifications, Background and Experience:
- Extensive experience working on the context in Syria and on the Syrian refugee crisis is a must
- High knowledge of women’s rights issues, feminism, and UNSCR 1325
- More than 10 years of experience in gender studies and extensive knowledge of SGBV in conflict
- Proven experience of training on SGBV case management and SGBV response techniques
- Proficiency in developing SGBV-response training material
- Excellent written and spoken English skills required and the ability to train in Arabic
