Advocacy consultant

Background

The main purpose of this role is to deliver trainings to youths’ responders after Beirut Blast on advocacy and campaigns. This training will help youth acquire advanced skills that can demonstrate their thoughts and feelings and develop their ability to advocate the community’s causes in alternative peaceful methods.

Responsibilities:

The advocacy consultant will have the following responsibilities:

• Conduct 4 days trainings on advocacy and campaigns for youths in order to help them acquire advanced skills that can demonstrate their thoughts and feelings and develop their ability to advocate the community’s causes in alternative peaceful methods.
• Prepare tools and material needed for the trainings
• Oversee the progress of the youth during the training sessions
• Develop and convey advocacy strategies that could help youths in their campaigns
• Provide technical support for youths in the production of videos that can advocate people’s causes, express their demands, and reach the wider public.
• Coordinate with the social worker and assist in planning and implementing assessments and surveys as required
• Maintain records, track the beneficiaries’ progress, and write reports
• Attend coordination meetings
• Reflect vision and values of Dawaer when interacting with youth, volunteers, and beneficiaries

 Key competencies:

• At least 5 years’ experience in a humanitarian or development environment, preferably leading advocacy and policy change in Lebanon.
• Prior experience working in advocacy on humanitarian issues, human rights, and/or development issues.
• Experience in working with youths on advocacy and campaigns
• Demonstrated ability to develop, lead and implement campaigns related to humanitarian advocacy and campaigns strategies
• High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people
• Experience in managing risks associated with advocacy and communications in high-risk settings
• Commitment to Dawaer values
• Proven skills in media and communication work
• Experience in coaching, capacity building and supporting the development of youths

   

Working Relation and Reporting Arrangement:

The advocacy consultant works with all Dawaer team members including media expert and reports directly to the project coordinator.
