Blended Learning Project Manager ( SNHU - LASeR )

LASeR in partnership with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) is running a blended learning competency-based higher education BA degree program for refugees and vulnerable Lebanese and Palestinian in Lebanon. This is part of the Global Education Movement (GEM) that is now running in 5 countries in Africa and the Middle-East.

Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or pace.

Competency-Based Education is an educational model centered on the student. It focuses on the development of competencies in students and on demonstration of their mastery.  In contrast with the traditional model, CBE is not based on the credit hour-based system. Rather, it is a more holistic approach to education. This model is based on demonstrating mastery of the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values which comprise a specific competence. Time is variable, and the learning outcome is the focus.

Two years ago, LASeR and GEM signed a MOU to provide students in Lebanon scholarships. Since then 2 cohorts (30 students) were recruited in Lebanon in Tripoli and the North and we’re now preparing to recruit the third cohort. Each cohort is in average of 15 students, each cohort has a coach that meet with the students periodically (3 times a week) and set targets to be achieved. Every student study on his own pace and reviews with the coach the report to be delivered.

In the prospect of expansion with the new coming cohorts, LASeR aims to recruit a project manager that will coordinate the effort among the groups. He/she will be LASeR staff and work closely with the GEM regional director and the rest of the team.

The project includes important capacity building and employment components that are delivered in close collaboration with different departments at LASeR.

The PM will be responsible for the coach(s), the admin officer, and potential Teaching Assistants, and academic advisor.

In addition to any new responsibility that might arise as he grows the project, the PM will be responsible for the following: 

- Coordinating between different staff working on the project 

- Draft the yearly plans and strategy 

- Monitor the implementation and report accordingly 

- Managing deadlines of delivery of students 

- Following up and coaching different coaches, and giving them the support needed 

- Reporting the progress both to LASeR and GEM

-  Participate to the meetings and retreats

- Meet the partners and build partnerships with universities, civil society organizations, employers and any stakeholder related to the project 

- Coach the coaches and build their capacities 

- Advocate with the ministry of education and higher education 

- Ongoing development, growth and expansion of the project 

As expected, commitment, accuracy and independency are highly required for this position. Moreover, candidates are expected to be: 

- Tech expert

- People oriented and a great listener 

- Coach and has an experience in managing teams and bringing their best potential 

- Effective team player 

- Self-motivated and a leader by nature 

- a minimum 3 years of middle management experience

- Fluent in English with a minimum of 7.5 in IELTS

- Creative and can come up with new ideas and initiatives 

- Education Background is a must

Education : 

Priority will be given to candidates with a background in education with relevant experience in management, or any field that they see relevant (and they will have to justify the connection). Candidates should have relevant experience, and mainly be self-motivated to do and create the work on their own. 

The PM is expected to start as soon as possible, maximum by December first, 2020
