Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is a German political foundation affiliated with the German party “Die Linke” (The Left Party). RLS is a provider of civic education and a center for progressive social research (www.rosalux.de). Since May 2017, RLS has opened its office in Beirut.

The Beirut Office is looking for a film director to develop, write and direct a film on the notions and concepts of gender, revolution and exile. The film should deal with a contemporary perception of these notions and concepts in the Syrian or Lebanese context. It can include or dwell on a personal story. The film will be screened at one of RLS Beirut office workshops being held in November that will deal with current perceptions of gender, exile and revolution as well as possibilities of political and individual subjectivities within these perceptions.

The film will be a short film and its development will be in close collaboration with the RLS team of the Beirut Office.

Time frame:Two months

Starting Date:12.08.2017

Main tasks and responsibilities:

- Develop, write and direct the film on gender, revolution and exile

- Editing, sound-design and colouring of the film

- Coordinate closely with the team of RLS Beirut during the whole process

- Coordinate closely with the team of RLS Beirut for the organization of the workshop and the screening

Requirements of the applicant

- Good Experience in film making with a focus on short films, personal stories

- Good analytical and factual understanding of the topic of gender and revolution in Lebanon and/or Syria

- Good experience of editing, sound-design and colouring

- Sharing the understandings and values of RLS
