Helvetas Lebanon
HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is a renowned, not-for-profit, non-governmental development organisation formed in 2011, by the merger of HELVETAS, the first private development organisation in Switzerland (founded in 1955), and the Foundation Intercooperation (founded in 1982). HELVETAS is a denominationally and politically neutral association governed by Swiss law and Helvetas Lebanon has started its operation in 2021.
HELVETAS’s vision is a just world in which all women and men determine the course of their lives in dignity and security, using environmental resources in a sustainable manner. Its mission is to support the efforts of disadvantaged women, men and communities in developing and transitioning countries, in the Global South and the East, to improve their living conditions in a sustainable manner and to determine the course of their own lives. HELVETAS promotes equitable access to resources, services and income and thus contributes to overcoming the root causes of poverty and marginalisation, aligned with, and contributing to the Agenda 2030.
HELVETAS combines three interrelated intervention mechanisms: 1) implementation of development and humanitarian projects and programmes, 2) thematic advisory services and 3) advocacy. Helvetas development cooperation focus on: Water, Food and Climate (WFC), Skills, Jobs and Income (SJI), Voice, Inclusion and Cohesion (VIC)
