Foreign Trade in Goods for Lebanon - Quarter 4, 2011

The value of exports from Lebanon in Quarter 4 2011, was LBP 2,052 billion. This was LBP 72 billion, 3.4%, lower than exports in Q3 2011 and LBP 148 billion, 6.7%, lower than exports in the same quarter last year. Export of Machinery and Equipment was down in value by LBP 350 billion from the same quarter last year but up by LBP 62 billion from last quarter. In contrast, the export of Precious Metal rose in value by LBP 126 billion from the same quarter last year but fell by LBP 101 billion from last quarter. The value of imports to Lebanon in Quarter 4 2011, was LBP 8,828 billion. This was LBP 748 billion, 9.3%, higher than imports in Q3 2011 and LBP 1,373 billion, 18.4% higher than imports in the same quarter last year. Petroleum Products were a major contributor to this change with the value of imports rising by LBP 1,134 billion since last quarter and LBP 919 billion since the same quarter last year. The value of imports of Precious Metal this quarter was LBP 312 billion higher than the same quarter last year, although the value this quarter was LBP 296 billion lower than last quarter.
