About the project:

The Association for Lebanese Rural Development (LRD) has partnered with several stakeholders in Akkar: Caritas - a major national NGO, Netways - a leading IT solutions provider in the region, and the Scouts Movement in Akkar to implement its environmental project titled “Promoting sustainable Solid Waste Management at the Community level in Akkar” funded by USAID. LRD and the three partners are working together to highlight the importance of environmental protection and advocate for the implementation of sustainable municipal solid waste management in 15 target municipalities within the Governorate of Akkar by providing tangible solutions, enhanced capacities, and linkages to solution providers for both local authorities and communities to ensure the sustainability of project activities and results.

Responsibilities

Organize a two-day fair featuring SWM solutions providers

The expert / consultant is requested to Implement SWM Solution Providers Fair (Mainly municipalities in Akkar area).

The expert has:

• To Organize a two-day fair featuring SWM solutions providers
• To support local authorities in Akkar to establish linkages with SWM solution providers
• To Have a least 20 SWM solution providers have kiosks in the Fair
• To prepare presentations from SWM solution providers and other private sector organizations who offer recycling/waste management services.
• To organize one-on-one meetings with key decision makers in the Unions of Municipalities, experts in this field, and other authorities.
• Prepare workshops and meetings with potential donors who can finance and support SWM plans at the local level.
• The expert / consultant will have 14 working days to prepare the fair.

Requirements

• Good knowledge in SWM Laws and Regulations in Lebanon
• Experience in SWM measures taken locally and activities implemented.
• Well connected with organizations and experts in the field of waste recovery and reduction
• Ability to Draft and develop a clear guidebook on SWM targeting municipalities 
• Flexible to travel between regions in Akkar when needed
• Work experience in fair preparations  
• Planning and organization skills
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
