Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development is a Lebanese non-governmental organization dedicated to sustainable development and community empowerment. As a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) with special consultative status, we work on a wide range of projects and campaigns across various developmental programs, including Education & Training, Public Health, Community Support, Urban Development, and Environment & Agriculture.
Position Overview:
Hariri Foundation is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join the team. The accountant will be managing financial activities, who will be responsible for ensuring appropriate systems and procedures, he/she will be handling the day-to-day transactions in the school and the simple payroll.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Handle day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and financial forecasts.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations accounting standards, and procedures regarding project finances.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to management and donors as required.
- Prepare biweekly cash requirements, monitoring cash flow, and reconciling cash accounts to maintain appropriate cash balances, including petty cash system.
- Develop and manage the school's budget, ensuring that financial resources are allocated appropriately to support educational programs, staff salaries, facility maintenance, and other operational needs.
- Provide financial data and analysis to school administrators, board members, and other stakeholders to support decision-making.
- Handle accounts receivable tasks such as billing parents for tuition fees, tracking payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Stay up to date with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations affecting educational institutions.
- Maintain records of school assets, including buildings, equipment, and inventory.
- Work closely with other school staff members, including administrators, teachers, and support personnel, to ensure financial objectives align with the school's overall mission and goals.
- Provide financial advice and support to school leadership in strategic planning and decision-making.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Identify areas for cost savings and financial efficiency.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in the School Sector.
- Proficiency in Accounting Software (Lebanese Standard Chart of Accounts) and MS Office & Accounting systems.
- Preferably living in Saida
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
