Webinar Speaker Women’s Economic Engagement in Reconstruction: Entrepreneurship and Opportunities for Growth
Dawlaty is a non-governmental organization that works with civil society partners and marginalized groups, in particular, young men and women, to achieve a democratic transition. To do this, Dawlaty often organizes workshops, webinars, and gatherings to shed light on the important matters at hand as well as try to bring the voices of its beneficiaries to the forefront of the discussion
Kvinna till Kvinna and Dawlaty are organizing a 90-minute webinar on women’s economic empowerment as a crucial factor in post-conflict reconstruction, fostering stability, resilience, and inclusive development. Despite the challenges posed by the Syrian crisis, women have demonstrated remarkable resilience in entrepreneurship and economic engagement. However, several barriers, including limited job opportunities, restricted access to funding, gaps in skills development, market access constraints, and deep-rooted social and cultural norms, continue to hinder their full participation.
This webinar aims to explore the role of women entrepreneurs in Syria’s reconstruction, addressing key enablers and challenges while providing practical insights on fostering a more inclusive economic landscape.
Objectives:
1.
Highlight the role of women’s entrepreneurship in economic recovery and reconstruction.
2.
Discuss barriers such as job availability, access to finance, skills development, and market constraints.
3.
Explore strategies to enhance women’s economic participation through policy, funding opportunities, and training programs.
4.
Showcase successful initiatives and best practices that empower women entrepreneurs.
Speaker Responsibilities:
1.
Deliver a 15 to 20-minute presentation on:
•
The importance of women’s economic engagement in reconstruction.
•
Challenges and opportunities in job creation, funding access, and market participation.
•
The role of skills development and entrepreneurship in fostering resilience.
•
Strategies to overcome social and cultural barriers to women’s economic participation.
2.
Engage in a Q&A session to respond to participants’ questions and reflections.
3.
Share relevant case studies, research findings, or policy recommendations.
4.
Coordinate with the organizing team to ensure alignment with the webinar’s goals.
Expected Outcomes:

Required Qualifications & Expertise:
•
Expertise in women’s economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, or post-conflict reconstruction. Experience in policy advocacy, business development, or financial inclusion for women.
•
A deep understanding of the post-war Syrian context and an awareness of the current changes taking place in the country.
•
Strong public speaking and webinar facilitation skills.
•
Familiarity with the Syrian economic context and gender-related challenges.
