The Opportunity
The primary purpose of this role is to lead and champion the integration of gender equality across all strategic, technical, and operational processes within Lebanon and Syria Response Country Offices. This involves ensuring gender considerations are embedded in Country Strategy Plans, humanitarian response strategies, sectoral plans, and emergency preparedness plans. The role includes representing the organization in various platforms to share learning and providing technical advice to mainstream an intersectional approach to gender equality. The postholder will also be responsible of training staff and partners on relevant guidelines and policies. It also involves working with the Safeguarding lead to align safeguarding frameworks with organizational policies, developing and/or implementing a Gender and Inclusion Action Plan, Additionally, the role requires conducting gender analysis, supporting the design and implementation of gender-sensitive and gender-transformative programs, integrating gender equality considerations into MEAL processes, and ensuring proposals use the relevant Gender Equality Marker. The role also focuses on developing strategic partnerships, advocating for gender equality, supporting communications and advocacy efforts, and rolling out relevant tools and initiatives.
The position holder will share a Level of Effort (LoE 50/50) between both Save the children Lebanon CO and Syria Response Office as agreed with line manager.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
- Degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development, Human Rights, Sociology, International Development or other related field
- Fluent Communication skills (both written and spoken) in Arabic and English language
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in humanitarian response with at least three years of experience in senior gender equality roles, including working directly on gender mainstreaming and SGBV prevention and mitigation
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing gender equality programming, with demonstrated experience in using an intersectional approach
- Experience in developing guidelines, tools and SoPs for integrating gender equality considerations across different sectoral programs (Child Protection, WASH, Nutrition, FSL including cash interventions, shelter, etc)
- Demonstrated gender responsive and intersectional program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills
- Experience working in conflict and post conflict and high volatility contexts.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships across cultural and organizational boundaries with internal and external stakeholders and managing through influence.
- Significant experience in gender equality and SGBV training, capacity building, and mentoring, for non-specialists, with an ability to make complex concepts compelling and accessible.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in intersectional gender and power analysis
- Commitment to and understanding of gender equality, child rights, GBV Guiding Principles, and principles of Save the Children, social justice, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the IASC Guidelines.
- Commitment to comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, PSEA, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize competing priorities across multiple complex contexts
