CBECE Teacher
Purpose and Objective of the Role:
The primary objective of this role is to provide inclusive, high-quality education to refugee and vulnerable and host community children, fostering a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment.
Description:
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective teaching and facilitation to refugees and vulnerable host community children by employing a variety of methodologies in teaching students, including demonstrations, discussions, and lectures
- Teach fundamental academic skills, in Arabic and English or French, including alphabet, letter recognition, numbers, reading and writing.
- Guide students through creative play and hands-on activities.
- Attend and actively participate in all mandatory trainings
- Maintain a safe, child-friendly classroom environment, fostering physical, emotional and intellectual well-being through a holistic teaching approach.
- Attend and engage in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure adherence to standards of care, quality education, proper referrals, and reporting requirements, are followed.
- Track student attendance and follow up closely with center coordinators on children who dropped out or are at the risk of dropping out
- Utilize and safeguard the educational resources, including materials, books, and other learning aids
- Identify and refer cases related to child protection and child safeguarding as needed
- Collect data for required assessments (Pre/Post Assessments)
- Ensure timely submission of all project records, including registration sheets, attendance sheets, evaluation documents etc. are submitted to center coordinator on time
- Design lesson plans for CB-ECE sessions
- Develop Individual Education Plan (IEPs) for children when needed
- Conduct formative assessments throughout the implementation period to monitor progress and adapt support to each child’s needs.
- Ensure safe, secure, simulative, and inclusive classes to meet the abilities and the needs of the children (including children with disabilities)
- Adhere to all internal policies and procedures, including those on child safeguarding and code of conduct.
- Take responsibility for decorating the classroom with essential information (such as class rules and the class schedule) and displaying student’s work.
- Teach and reinforce basic health, hygiene and safety practices to ensure children understand the importance of personal well-being
- Model a positive behavior, language and attitudes to inspire students and create a supportive environment.
- Work closely with other staff, such as social workers or case managers to support children, especially those with special needs or academic challenges.
Qualifications and requirements:
- University degree in preschool education or TS in preschool education; a certification/license in teaching is a plus
- 2 to 5 years of experience in education or teaching, preferably at the Primary, Early Childhood Education (ECE), or Kindergarten (KG) level.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and teaching methodologies suitable for diverse and vulnerable groups of children
- Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain discipline and engage students effectively.
- Ability to adapt teaching materials and methods to meet the needs of students, including those with disabilities or varying levels of ability.
- Familiarity with assessment tools and strategies for evaluating student performance.
- Strong ability to work effectively under pressure and in challenging environments
- Fluency in Arabic and French or English Languages, both written and spoken
