Legal Consultant at Socio-Economic Justice Initiative - MAAN

• Provide ongoing legal support to data collectors and the MAAN team in aligning the Social Stability Monitor with the organization's vision, mission, and strategic objectives. This includes offering legal guidance on methodologies and tools to ensure consistency with the organization's overall approach.
• Deliver on-demand legal advice and assistance to data collectors during field operations, addressing inquiries related to conflict resolution, legal rights, safety protocols, and any other relevant legal concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Provide strategic guidance and support to data collectors in navigating structural challenges, including interactions with governmental forces, legal processes, political dynamics, and local power structures. Offer practical advice on overcoming obstacles that may arise in the course of data collection.
• Design and produce comprehensive training materials that cover best practices in data collection, safety protocols, and adherence to UN standards. Ensure that materials are tailored to the needs of data collectors and respond to specific requests as needed.
• Lead a three-hour training workshop for data collectors, focusing on key legal frameworks, real-world case studies, and the practical application of legal knowledge within the context of the Social Stability Monitor.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting the legal support provided throughout the duration of the service contract, outlining key activities, challenges, and outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.

• Minimum of 10 years in legal consulting, particularly with non-profit organizations and the activism field. 

• Strong understanding of local and international laws related to human rights, data protection, and internally displaced people (IDPs). 

• Strong comprehension of the local and national context relevant to the current war, political parties and political division, local social and political dynamics, 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.

• Experience in conducting training sessions and workshops for diverse audiences. 

• Commitment to social justice and political activism, firm analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills punctuality, detailed orientation, and ability to work under pressure.
