Pharmacy or drug supervisor- Deir Al Ahmar PHCC(Bekaa)

Summary of the Job:

• Determines the center's needs for medicines and vaccines and requests them from the Ministry of Public Health according to the established mechanisms.

• The medicine is dispensed to the patient according to the medical prescription issued from inside the center after ensuring that there are no medical contraindications according to the established policies.
• Commits to the accreditation requirements and protocols issued by the Ministry of Public Health for primary health care centers.
• Supports the Ministry of Public Health's vision and project in developing and strengthening primary health care in Lebanon.

Main tasks and duties:

• Work to provide essential medicines in the health center and to dispense them in the right way through:

• Preparing the order of medicines using the correct scientific methods, and following the right procedures.
• Establishing a clear system that shows how to store medicines, supervise the inventory, and store them at an appropriate temperature and humidity in closed medicine cabinets tightly and in proper scientific methods.
• Using the HIS system to examine and discover expired drugs (FIFO policy) with written procedures that explain how medicines and vaccines are stored in the center and how to dispose of expired drugs and vaccines.
• Adhere to the instructions for medications that are stagnant or nearly expiring.
• Using the HIS system to supervise drugs dispenses, and monitors the pharmacy staff’s commitment to registering drug discharges.
• Refrain from dispensing medicines without a prescription.

• Write down or supervise the codification of how to use the medicine in a clear line on its package, educate the patient on how to use the dispensed medication, and make sure the patient understands the recorded information.
• Adherence to the cost of medicine issued by the center's administration.
• Ensure that there is a list of medicines available in the center according to the reasons for use in each clinic of the center.
• Prepare a monthly report that includes a statistic of the beneficiaries according to the type of medication, the percentage of medications prescribed by doctors.
• Send monthly reports that the center needs from the medicines provided by the Ministry of public Health and the supporting authorities.

• Monitor the optimal description of medications by doctors in the health center by reviewing:

• Completion of the prescription data and clarity of its contents before dispensing it to the patient.

• in case of any unclear medical prescription, return and check with the prescribing doctor for clarification and to complete missing data before dispensation to the patient.

• Ensure that the prescribed drug is appropriate and that it is not incompatible with other medications the patient takes (Medication Reconciliation).

• Managing drug records at the pharmacy.
• Participate in health awareness programs established by the center.
• Maintaining a safe environment for oneself and others by:

• Preserving medicines in a correct and healthy way and ensuring the climatic conditions surrounding the drug to maintain its effectiveness.

• Adhere to safety guidelines for high-risk pharmaceuticals and medicines.

• Adherence to the center's internal system, and commitment to the established work policies and procedures within the center regularly.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff members in the pharmacy according to the established and followed evaluation criteria, and develop a final evaluation for each of them at the end of the year.
• Develop key business relationships.
• Work on developing self-performance and the performance of co-workers.
• Promote the primary health care goals adopted by the center.
• Respecting and appreciating patients and maintaining professional ethics, including commitment to professional confidentiality.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Bachelor degree in Pharmacy or Nursing with relevant experience
• At least one year of pharmacy experience.
• Full-time work within the organization.
• Languages: Arabic in addition to English or French.
