Registered nurse -Deir Al Ahmar (Bekaa) Primary Health Care center

Main tasks and duties:

• Performing the special tasks of a primary care nurse:

• Commitment to standards of care and professional practice.
• Demonstrate required evaluation and treatment skills.
• Evaluating and monitoring the growth of all children under the age of five.
• Taking the medical history (medical, surgical, allergies, medications that were used...) for each beneficiary.
• Measurement of vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration…)
• Measuring the weight and height of the beneficiaries at the first visit, weighing them at least once a year.
• Measuring the peak flow for asthmatic patients.
• Measuring the weight and length of infants and children regularly and recording this in the child's health record or card
• Practicing first aid services such as Basic Life Support when needed, ECG, nursing and dressing wounds, burns and stings when necessary.
• Providing family planning services in the absence of a midwife, including counselling on this topic.
• Providing health education services to individuals and family in the center as needed, including providing beneficiaries with the necessary information about health problems, prevention, and prescribed treatments ...
• Evaluating the situation of patients who go to the center without prior appointment during the triage process.
• Evaluating the status of patients attending the center during the triage process.
• Providing vaccination with all its aspects.
• Ensuring the availability of supplies and equipment for the clinic and patient care.
• Daily supervision of all medical equipment available in the center and making sure that they work properly, in addition to documenting this on the daily check list.
• Follow the doctors ’instructions and take measures to transfer the transferred cases quickly and in the correspondent pathway.
• Commitment to educating the beneficiary and his / her family / community when needed, and in coordination with the health social worker at the center.

• Follow-up Vaccination services
  • Supervising the cold chain of vaccines, the method of preservation and arrangement in the refrigerator, and their suitability.
  • Giving the appropriate vaccine to the appropriate age based on the national calendar for vaccination inside and outside the center during vaccination campaigns that include schools, villages and towns adjacent to the center.
  • Register the names and information about the vaccinated children in a special register of the Ministry of public Health. And add this information into the HIS.
  • Instruct and guide parents on how to monitor the child at home and give him fever-reducing medications with information about his food.
  • Conduct monthly statistics devoted to vaccines and request incomplete vaccines as per the monthly need of the center.
  • Inform the director of the center when there is any obstacle in completing the proper conditions.
  • Notify the Ministry of Health of any side effects by using the form designated for them.
• Commitment to maintain the safety and comfort of workers and beneficiaries of the center and to maintain a safe environment for themselves and others in coordination with the center director.
• Respect  the instructions and guidelines related to general occupational safety in order to secure self-protection and protect co-workers and beneficiaries: public safety measures, infection control and procedures, fire prevention and control, ensuring that the health center evacuation plan is defined in the event of a fire, etc. and implement mandatory training on it before Starting work and periodically.
• Adherence to the center’s internal system, and adhere to the established work policies and procedures within the center.
• Develop key business relationships and keep them running.
• Work to develop self-performance and the performance of others.
• Promote the primary health care goals adopted by the center.
• Respecting and appreciating patients and maintaining professional ethics.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Bachelor degree in Nursing sciences (LT Nursing, BS Nursing), and he / she must have:
•  Permission to practice nursing profession from the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon.
•  Affiliated to the Syndicate of Nurses in Lebanon.
• Good experience in nursing business for at least 3 years. Preferably / also have experience in primary health care centers.
•  Computer skills (especially in using the electronic medical file), electronic printer, fax, etc.
• Languages: Arabic in addition to English or French.
