Training provider agency _ Tawazon Tabie project

Objective

Tawazon Tabie project is designed to strengthen the resilience of farmers and producers in Lebanon's Bekaa region in tackling climate change. This will be achieved through activities centered around raising awareness, providing education, and providing economic support. The project aims to assist 180 farmers and 120 producers through training programs and provision of equipment and inputs for better access to means of production and practices adapted to climate change.  

FTL is seeking a training provider agency to develop a curriculum and train farmers and food processors, under the project “Tawazon Tabie aiming to strengthen the resilience of farmers and producers” funded by Agence Française du Développement AFD and implemented by Fair Trade Lebanon in the Bekaa region.

Training Topics

The experts will develop training material and deliver training sessions covering topics related to:

• Water management and smart irrigation
• Soil management
• Crop management and diversification techniques
• Organic farming
• Climate-resilient crops and their suitable planting techniques
• Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
• Greenhouse planting and hydroponics
• Agricultural waste management
• Potential high-value and/or high-market-demand crops
• Production methods for biological and local inputs
• Awareness on natural disaster and climate events

The experts will develop training material and deliver training sessions to food processors covering topics related to:

• Development of products from plantations adapted to climate change
• Diversification of production activities and introduction of new agri-food production sectors
• Storage management
• Sustainable packaging and labeling methods

Output

The selected experts will be responsible for preparing the training material and delivering 5 training sessions per group of farmers (45 sessions in total) and 3 training sessions per group of food processors (18 sessions in total). The sessions can be either informative or technical, including on-field visits or demonstration plot development.

Deliverables

The expert is expected to:

1. Develop a training material for farmers designated to cover topics related to sustainable agricultural practices. Training material to include visual objects and PowerPoint presentation to enhance understanding and to facilitate engaging and interactive sessions.
2. Develop a training material for food processors designated to cover topics related to focus on production techniques adapted to climate change. Training material to include visual objects and PowerPoint presentation to enhance understanding and to facilitate engaging and interactive sessions.
3. Design a knowledge assessment to be administered both before and after the trainings.
4. Delivery of 5 training sessions of 4 hours each to 9 groups of farmers, totalling 45 sessions.
5. Delivery of 3 training sessions of 4 hours each to 6 groups of food processors, totalling 18 sessions.

Qualifications

• Higher university degree in agriculture or any relevant field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural development and food production and training, with specific knowledge of agricultural and agri-food systems in Lebanon.
• In-depth knowledge of the Lebanese context
• Proven experience in developing agricultural training material.
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in Arabic is required; English is highly preferred.

• Commercial Circular
• Fiscal Certificate of Incorporation at the Ministry of Finance
• VAT Certificate of Registration (if applicable)
