MHPSS Technical Unit Officer

Tasks and Duties

1. Material Development and Review

• Conduct literature reviews and desk reviews on MHPSS and substance use-related technical and/or clinical topics, as needed.
• Map local and international frameworks and references on different mental health topics and evidence-based, scalable, MHPSS and focused PSS interventions.
• Support in developing technical content across projects (i.e. guiding documents, capacity building plans, accreditation standards, patient flows, emergency preparedness plan).
• Support in developing quality standards for various MHPSS and substance-use related initiatives (prevention, promotion, and treatment)Support in developing and tailoring technical materials for different target populations (age groups, nationalities, specialized and non-specialized providers, vulnerable populations, etc.), across multiple sectors, in a variety of settings (emergency contexts, primary care, academia, professional associations, etc.), and across multiple mediums (social media platforms, print media, etc.).
• Support in developing various training materials (i.e. pre-post-tests, PPTs, Agendas, etc.) across the NMHP project portfolio.
• Support in the development the content to be added indigital interventions and national Mental Health Information System (MHIS) Platforms (i.e. 4Ws, Substance Use Platform, Research Platform, MHPSS Indicators, Mental Health in the Workplace Platform, Interpersonal Psychotherapy Learning Collaborative Platform, National Resources for Mental Health, etc.).
• Support in developing SOPs and standards of good practice for the Technical Unit and the partners, as well as all related forms and templates.

1. Coordination Support

• Participate in meetings with key stakeholders when needed and represent the Technical Unit.
• Audit external capacity building workshops when needed and submit reports to the unit coordinator
• Support in delivering training workshops based on experience and expertise.
• Develop feedback forms for developed materials, compile feedback, and conduct a technical review of the feedback compiled.
• Develop registration forms, support in shortlisting candidates, and make recommendations.
• Perform other tasks in-line with the ToR of the Technical Unit.

1. Data Management for Capacity Building

• Support in data analysis of technical items and report writing in coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) Unit
• Compile comments and feedback, note decisions and actions taken, and communicate back.

1. Administrative

• Conduct routine day-to-day coordination and follow-up tasks
• Archive and organize key information and materials on appropriate cloud folders
• Prepare Minutes of Meetings
• Support in training workshops, as needed
• Support in developing Standardized Operational Procedures (SOPs)

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Public Health, or Mental Health Social Work
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in the field of mental health and/or substance use
• Proven experience in material development, developing training exercises in accordance with the principles of adult learning, knowledge of facilitation methods (role plays, brainstorming, group discussions, etc.)
• Clinical competence and practice of at least one evidence-based psychotherapy (i.e. CBT, IPT, EMDR, MI, etc.).
• Knowledge of community-based mental health and mental health in primary care settings
• Knowledge of high-risk protocols (i.e. suicide risk, SGBV/CP, etc.)
• Knowledge of evidence-based and scalable mental health interventions
• Knowledge of digital interventions and tele-mental health interventions
• Knowledge of academic research methodology
• Experience in citing and referencing (APA is mandatory, knowledge of other formats is a plus)
• Proficient in reading and writing of Arabic and English, fluency in French is a plus

• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Basic knowledge of cloud-based collaboration (OneDrive, Dropbox, GoogleDrive, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of online meeting platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.)
• Basic technology literacy
• Basic knowledge of data analytics and reporting software (SPSS, PowerBI, etc.) is a plus
