Consultant for Social Behavior Change Research Project on Sexual and Reproductive Health among Adolescent and Youth Population in Lebanon
Period of Performance: From May 1st, 2024, to June 20th , 2024, for a period of 2 months.
Level of Effort: The Consultant will work on a part-time basis according to the deliverables listed below.
Background:
International Medical Corps is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people affected by conflict, disaster, and poverty worldwide. In Lebanon, there is a crucial need to address sexual and reproductive health issues among adolescents and youth. To effectively design interventions, research is required to understand the social behavior factors influencing these populations.
Purpose:
The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct a comprehensive research project focusing on social behavior change related to sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and youth in Lebanon. The consultant, expected to be a professor or academic institution, will be responsible for conducting a literature review, developing research tools, and preparing for Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval.
Tasks:
Conduct a thorough literature review on sexual and reproductive health issues among adolescents and youth in Lebanon, with a focus on social behavior change interventions.
Develop research tools, including surveys, interview guides, or focus group discussion protocols, to explore attitudes, beliefs, and practices related to sexual and reproductive health.
Collaborate with International Medical Corps staff to adapt research tools to the local context and ensure cultural sensitivity.
Prepare all necessary documentation and materials for IRB submission, including research protocols, consent forms, and any other required documents.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in public health research, with a focus on sexual and reproductive health.
Experience conducting literature reviews and developing research tools.
Familiarity with ethical considerations and IRB processes related to research involving human subjects.
Previous experience working in Lebanon or similar contexts is preferred.
Deliverables:
Comprehensive literature review report summarizing existing knowledge on sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and youth in Lebanon.
Research tools, including surveys, interview guides, or focus group discussion protocols, tailored to the research objectives and local context.
Documentation for IRB submission, including research protocols, consent forms, and any other required documents.
Deliverables/Due Dates/Payment Schedule:
A research proposal will be developed detailing the methods used to design, implement and evaluate the intervention including the instruments that will be used to assess project outputs and outcomes. An application will be submitted to the Institutional Review Board at the American University of Beirut that consists of the research proposal, the instruments and related informed consent forms.
Payment will be made in 3 installments upon deliverable completion and submissions.

Desired Outputs:
High-quality research deliverables that meet the standards of International Medical Corps and relevant ethical guidelines.
Clear and concise documentation for IRB submission, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Timely communication and collaboration with International Medical Corps staff throughout the project duration.
Location of Work:
Consultant resides in Lebanon and will conduct her/his work in his own company/workplace.
