SAWA is currently searching for an electrical and power electronics engineer expert to work with our established WaSH team.

An Electrical and Power Electronics Engineer Expert is a professional who provides specialized expertise and advisory services in the field of electrical engineering and power electronics. This role involves offering technical guidance, solutions, and recommendations to organizations that require expertise in electrical systems and power electronics technologies. Experts in this field possess deep knowledge and experience in designing, analyzing, and optimizing electrical and electronic systems to meet specific needs and objectives. Electrical and power electronics engineering offers the chance to produce new innovations and developments in telecommunications, robotics, computing hardware, and power and electrical equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Be responsible for the research, innovation & engineering products development.
• Develop remote monitoring and control systems that allow operators to manage processes from a central location.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in automation, control systems, and PLCs.
• Evaluate the technical, financial, and logistical feasibility of the product idea.
• Create rough sketches, diagrams, or design concepts to visualize how the product will look and work.
• Choose appropriate electronic components such as microcontrollers, sensors, power converters, and communication modules.
• Choose appropriate electromechanical components such as relays, solenoid valves and motorized valves.
• Design, inspect, test, and update electronic systems, components, equipment, and software.
• Develop detailed engineering designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Design the printed circuit board (PCB) layout, arranging components and traces for optimal performance and manufacturability.
• Create detailed BoQ documents for electrical and automation projects, outlining the quantities and specifications of materials, components, and equipment needed.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure accurate cost estimation and sourcing of required items.
• Develop embedded software or firmware to control the product's electronic components.
• Write code for microcontrollers, interfaces, communication protocols, and user interactions.
• Create prototypes to demonstrate the physical form and basic functionality of the product.
• Conduct rigorous testing of the prototype to verify its performance, functionality, and safety.
• Iterate on the design to address any issues and optimize performance.
• Transition from prototype to mass production, ensuring consistency in quality and performance.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in future products.
• Manage different types of power systems, such as alternating and direct current.
• Design and optimize hydraulic systems that involve pumps, valves, and actuators for various applications.
• Solar System Design and Integration.
• Provide recommendations for improving overall energy efficiency in conjunction with solar system installations.
• Advise on selecting appropriate energy storage technologies.
• Collaborate with construction teams and contractors to ensure proper installation of solar systems.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure installations meet industry standards and safety regulations.
• Develop maintenance plans for solar power systems to ensure long-term performance.
• Offer troubleshooting expertise to diagnose and rectify issues related to solar panels, inverters, and other components.
• Liaise with engineers to ensure quality projects are completed to specifications.
• Ensure all equipment and products meet health and safety regulations.
• Observe existing processes and making recommendations for improvement.
• Show initiative and keeping up with advancements in electronics.
• Represent SAWA at meetings and deliver presentations if required.
• Establish relationships with staff, beneficiaries, and other professionals in the field.
• Create comprehensive documentation, including assembly instructions, user manuals, and technical specifications.
• Ensure that maintenance, troubleshooting, and usage guidelines are well-documented.
• On call to deliver consultancy in case of emergencies and breakdowns of systems.
• Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and WHO regulations.
• Other duties as assigned by the Project manager.

Training and Capacity Building:

1. Attend all trainings planned and evaluate these trainings.
2. Suggest any topic for future trainings based on the needed skill or knowledge.

Reports to: WASH Coordinator and Program Manager.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor degree in Electronic engineering, Electrical engineering, or any relevant education. Masters degree is a plus

Minimum of 4 years of experience as electrical and power electronics engineer or other relevant field.

SKILLS

• Strong analytical skills, solid reporting methods.
• Solid commend of fluent English spoken and written is a must.
• Excellent commend of Windows, Word and Excel is eligible.
• More than two years old driven license is a must
• Practical experience with design software.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent research and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
