Psychotherapist

• Provide psychological assessment, support and individual and/or group psychotherapy to women and adolescent girls with MHPSS needs referred from Rafic Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) Birth Center, Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) and other RHUH services;
• Contribute to response to emergencies through the provision of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and PFA training;
• Coordinate with the case manager and coordination team for the implementation of all Mental Health and Psychosocial (MHPSS) interventions and activities;
• Contribute in the development and implementation of mental health psychosocial activities in the PHCC and in the community, including group support;

• Contribute to the capacity building of RHUH PHCC and Birth Center staff and of outreach volunteers and other stakeholders on MHPSS;
• Contribute to the development of content of preventive and awareness raising activities, in the PHCCs and the community and to various events related to MHPSS.

Main responsibilities and activities of the Psychotherapists can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.

1. Provision of psychological assessment and appropriate mental health and psychosocial intervention to persons with MHPSS needs.

• Provide psychological assessment, and appropriate mental health support including psycho-education and individual and/or group psychotherapy to persons with MHPSS needs referred by Rafic Hariri University Hospital (RHUH) Birth Center, PHCC and other services, mainly women and adolescent girls and their family members when needed.  
• Collaborate closely with the case manager in assessing the person’s needs and developing and implementing individualized action plan through regular case discussions.
• Ensure proper follow up of service users enrolled in the services.
• Provide regular feedback to the case management team regarding the follow up of the cases and progress of psychotherapy.
• Ensure that emergency cases are properly taken care of, referred and followed.
• Commit with clinical documentation of all individual and other MH activities.
• Follow up all the procedures and SoP’s for patient flow, discharge and treatment.
• Make sure the appointments are properly scheduled and respected

1. Contribution to response to emergencies through the provision of Psychological First Aid (PFA) and PFA training.

• In case of emergency, provide PFA to community members in need for support.
• Provide training on PFA to PHCCs staff, community outreach volunteers and other stakeholders.

1. Contribution to the development and implementation of psychosocial activities including group support.

• Contribute in the assessment of MHPSS interventions needs in the PHCCs, in the Birth Center and in the communities and suggest appropriate interventions.
• Participate in establishing and implementing innovative psychosocial activities including preventive activities.
• Design, organize and implement group support activities.

1. Contribution to the capacity building of RHUH Birth center and PHCC staff, community outreach volunteers and other stakeholders.

• Contribute to the assessment of needs of the PHCC and Birth Center staff in terms of MHPSS, especially at the level of Maternal Mental Health.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of training and supervision sessions to the PHCC and Birth Center staff on MHPSS, especially on maternal mental health, in order to support the integration of MH in the Primary Health Care, in line with the NMHP strategy and pilot project and the National Maternal Mental Health guidelines.

• Contribute to the assessment of needs of the of the community outreach volunteers and other identified stakeholders on MHPSS topics.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of training sessions to the community outreach volunteers and other stakeholders on MHPSS.

1. Contribute to the development of content of preventive and awareness raising activities, in the PHCCs and the community and to various events related to MHPSS.

• Contribute to the assessment of the MHPSS needs of targeted groups and communities.
• Prepare awareness raising sessions’ content about MHPSS in the PHCC, in the Birth Center and in the community.

1. Reporting and meetings

• Commit with clinical documentation (intake assessments, progress notes, closure notes and other required service users’ data documentation) and with reporting for other MHPSS/SU activities.
• Commit with daily data collection and entry, respecting deadlines
• Participate in internal technical and non-technical meetings and take responsibility for documentation of the meeting minutes.
• Participate in regular meetings with key actors, NGOs/INGOs and PHC, hospital

• Participate in network/coordination meetings concerning MHPSS as required by the supervisor.
• Participate in internal MdM meetings (all staff meeting, team meetings)
• Take an active role with center’s visitors to present and promote the services

• MA in Clinical Psychology 
• Holds Licence to practice
• 2 to 3 years of experience in psychotherapy
• Practitioner skills in therapy (trained in IPT and/or EMDR and/or CBT, or other therapeutic approach)
• Follows individual supervision
• Experience working with women and adolescent girls and/or with GBV survivors desired
• Believes in a comprehensive, holistic and recovery approach in mental health.
• Arabic and English languages are mandatory.
• Experience working with NGO is preferred.

• Ability to organize, plan and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to identify strengths and weakness and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
• Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
