Trainer/Lecturer in Basics of Data Journalism
Deutsche Welle Akademie would like to recruit a trainer/lecturer to conduct four webinars on the basics of data journalism.
Deutsche Welle Akademie, in the framework of its mandate, works to develop media and media systems internationally. An integral part of its programmes aims at training journalists and building their capacities.
DW Akademie is Deutsche Welle's centre for international media development, journalism training and knowledge transfer. DW Akademie is active in approximately 50 developing countries and emerging economies worldwide, funded by the German Ministry for Economic Development (BMZ), Germany’s Foreign Office or the EU among others.
Scope of work
- Develop and conduct four webinars on core data journalistic skills for female media workers in Yemen, Iraq and Sudan.
- Four-week course with one webinar/week. Conducting the webinar, develop handouts, support the participants
Tasks and Deliverables
The following will be the deliverables expected from the contracted trainer/lecturer:
- Designing a matrix for every webinar, ensuring that the participants get a solid basic understanding of each topic.
- webinar modules content should include data selection, collection, cleaning, analysing and visualisation.

- Written Report

Duration and timeframe of selection process
This application is open to data journalists and data trainers. We especially encourage women to apply. The webinars should be conducted in September 2023.
