With funding from the French Development Agency (AFD), IOCC is intending to recruit a consultant engineer with experience in solar energy systems to prepare bills of quantities, coordinate with the selected contractor, monitor the progress and quality of the work until the task is completed. The aim of the project is to provide electricity to kitchens of 8-10 public schools across Lebanon that are part of the AFD School Feeding Project.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assess the project sites, prepare drawings and bills of quantities (BoQs) for the tender document based on the project scope of work (SoW).
- Handover of work to the selected contractor to start implementation.
- Act as the main technical advisor on sites for contractors, technicians, and operatives.
- Ensure that all submitted materials and work performed are as per specifications.
- Liaise with the contractor to request work plan and communicate the progress of work.
- Oversee the implementation of the work and monitor the work as per contract BoQ and specifications.
- Liaise with the local authority / community (where appropriate to the project) to ensure compliance with construction policy and regulations.
- Plan the work and efficiently organize the work, in coordination with the contractor to meet deadlines.
- Resolve any unexpected / inconsistent technical issue that may arise and report it to the contractor.
- Prepare reports as required.
Requirements and qualifications
- Member of the Order of Engineers and Architects.
- Experience in designing, developing, and managing solar energy systems.
- Knowledge of solar energy principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to solar energy systems.
